Over $6.3 Million in State Infrastructure Grants Announced For Beaver & Lawrence Counties

Became A Master Naturalist Volunteer This Spring

Learn about our natural world and support conservation in Beaver County. Beaver County Conservation District is hosting a training course for PA Master Naturalist volunteers at our office this spring. This course has limited space and registration is required. Final deadline is February 1, 2023 to register. The course will take place on Wednesdays from April 12 to June 28, 2023. Beaver County Conservation District Hosting Tire Collection Event

The Beaver County Conservation District’s Mosquito Vector Disease Program is hosting a one-day tire collection at the district office and environmental center October 22, 2022. The collection is open to Beaver County residents and accepting car and light truck tires up to 20” off rim. This event is funded through the DEP West Nile Program. Summer is starting to wind down and kids are going back to school, but now is the time of increased viral activity in mosquitoes which can carry West Nile Virus. Beaver Tales – Beaver County Conservation District Updates

The Beaver County Conservation District held a spring tire collection event on April 1st and April 2nd at the district office. We accepted light truck and car tires up to 20” off rim at a cost of $2.50 per tire. This discounted price was possible through the West Nile Virus Grant for education and habitat reduction. We collected over 1,000 tires during the 2-day event. Like our past tire collections, we used the services of Liberty Tire Recycling. Spotted Lanternfly Workshop Planned

An upcoming FREE workshop presented by the Beaver County Conservation District will provide information about the alien invader, the Spotted Lanternfly, and how to reduce the problems caused by this non-native invasive pest. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14th at The Barn at Old Economy Park in Baden.  The workshop is schedule to start at 6:00 p.m. and last until 8:00 p.m. Attendees will learn how to identify and destroy the Spotted Lanternfly.  A limited number of free traps will be available for use on your property.  Attendees can also learn about the local quarantine and what it…
