Riverside Bounces Back In Victory; Wolverines Fall Short On Road

After being handed a lopsided shutout defeat last week, the Riverside Panthers were looking to rebound on their home field Friday night and prevailed in a convincing 24-0 shutout victory over Western Beaver. The Panther defense bounced back in pitching the shutout, allowing less than 150 yards of total offense. The Riverside offense was able to score early and relied on the ground game to dictate the mistake-free victory. If data metrics can be measured with pieces of pie, approximatley 750 people showed up to watch the Lincoln High School Blue Band perform their 2018 pre-game and halftime perfromances last night at Helling Stadium in Ewing Park.  The band performed its traditional pregame set list consisting of the drumline’s cadence, the Lincoln High School alma mater, the “Star Spangled Banner”, and “Fanfare” – a tribute to our U.S. military.  The halftime show featured songs such as “Paint it Black”, “ Mr  Roboto”, and “Bad Romance”. The Annual Pie Festival hosted by the Lincoln Blue Band will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23 at Helling Stadium. The gates will open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. This is a special event to kick off the Blue Band’s fall entertainment. Criminal Complaints: Former Festival Treasurer Can’t Stay Out of Trouble

Former Festival Treasurer Recently Accused of Stealing Funds Now Accused of Bad Check According to the criminal complaint, on Oct. 19, a local landlord reported that she had received a bad check from her tenant, Suzanne Bleakney, 50, of Ellwood City. Suzanne was recently facing charges of theft by unlawful taking and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, after she accusingly stole upwards of $1650.00 from the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food, and Entertainment Festival bank account during her time working as the treasurer. Due to pending thunderstorms and wet weather forecasted to enter the area Thursday evening, the annual Pie Festival was moved indoors to the Lincoln High School large gymnasium.  The change was announced by the school early Thursday afternoon and later reported confirmed on Twitter, first by the Lincoln Blue Band account (@LHSBlueBand). The event is normally held at Helling Stadium, but precautions were taken by moving the event indoors this year. Lincoln High School Blue Band members and Ellwood City fall sport team members were announced.
