Halloween Parade Scheduled For Saturday

The annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday beginning at 3:30pm and will make its way through the downtown. Judging will take place at 3:00pm Saturday in the Lincoln High School parking lot. All participants are asked to be in the parking lot by 2:30pm for judging of floats, costumed marching groups and individuals. Evelyn Loretta Manzetti, 94

Evelyn Loretta Manzetti, 94, of Franklin Twp. passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015 at the Passavant Retirement Community. Evelyn was born on Jan. 20, 1921 in Koppel to the late Angelo and Genevive Ferino Docchio. She is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parrish. She had worked at the Armstrong Cork in Beaver Falls, Gaylords Paper Mill in Beaver Falls and from the age 59 to 73 she was the owner and operator of Manzetti’s Candies and Pastries in Beaver Falls. She enjoyed baking, cooking and crocheting. Evelyn is survived by her husband, John A. Manzetti whom she married…


Council Approves Drug Clinic 4-2

In a 4 to 2 vote, the Ellwood City Borough Council approved Freedom Health Care Services, a drug and alcohol addiction clinic, to be located on 773 Pershing St. About a dozen visitors arrived to protest the clinic, focusing their opposition on the location, which is near a residential area and a bus stop. Hunter Farmer, the owner of Freedom Health Care Services, spoke to explain the purpose of the clinic. Freedom Health Care is a counseling service for those with drug and alcohol addiction problems.
