Victoria A. Landolfi, 89, of Ellwood City passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in the Jameson Care Center. Victoria was born on Sept. 15, 1926 in New Castle to the late Frank and Philomenia DeRobbio Comparone. She is a member of the New Castle High School class of 1943, and the Holy Redeemer Parish. She had worked as a legal secretary for various attorneys in New Castle and Ellwood City. Lawrence County’s Annual Earth Day Celebration will feature more than 40 educational exhibitors and vendors, plenty of exciting activities, great entertainment, horse-drawn trolley rides and a Wild World of Animals show. After four straight lopsided losses, the Lady Wolverines showed significant improvement as they battled Seneca Valley Tuesday afternoon. After walking 10 batters in the first two innings and spotting the Raiders a 6-0 lead, the young pitching staff led by Madi Krugh, yielded just one more free pass and two additional runs over the final four frames. Police: New Castle Man Caught After Extended Chase from Ellwood to Zelienople

A New Castle man was apprehended by Ellwood City police after an extended car chase Saturday night from Ellwood to the Zelienople Airport. Wesley Jay Cox, 34, of New Castle, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, fleeing police, reckless endangerment, accident causing damage to property, driving while suspended and reckless driving. The incident began around 9 p.m. on April 16 when an officer observed a Nissan Altima traveling in the vicinity of Plum Way and Spring Avenue. Anthony “Nanu” Franz, 78, of Koppel passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Tony was born on Nov. 16, 1937 in Serra San Bruna, Italy to the late Frank and Carmella Valenti Semi. Anthony came to America in 1954. He worked for the Frank Ceriani Construction Co. in Beaver Falls until he retired in 1997. He is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Holy Name Society of the Holy Redeemer Parish.
