Western Beaver jumped on Riverside early, gaining an early 21-0 advantage as they held on to defeat the Panthers 21-10 Friday night at Riverside Memorial Stadium. The Panthers girls volleyball team earned a thrilling 5-set match victory over rival Ellwood City in a Riv-Ell Cup matchup Thursday evening at Riverside High School The Lady Panthers jumped out to a two set advantage before the visiting Wolverines rallied back to tie the match at two sets apiece. Riverside then earned the rivalry victory with a 15-12 victory in the fifth and deciding set. The Wolverines setback is their second section loss of the season and puts Neshannock now alone in first place of the section after the Lancers earned a straight sets victory over Laurel on Thursday….


2024 Ellwood City Homecoming Court Announced

Congratulations to the 2024 Lincoln High School Homecoming Court! The Homecoming King will be crowned at school during a Pep Rally and the Queen will be crowned at halftime of the Friday night football game vs. New Brighton. Lincoln High School will celebrate their 68th Homecoming on Friday, September 27th, at Helling Stadium against the New Brighton Lions. Pregame festivities, where the Queen’s Court will be introduced, begin at 6:30 p.m. There will be a casual dance at the high school for junior high students following the football game with DJ II Nice and admission is $5 at the door….

The Wolverines remained unbeaten with victories over Shenango and Riverside this week. Ellwood City now holds a 12-0 record on the season. On Thursday, Ellwood City defeated its rival Riverside 207-224 at Connoquenessing Country Club. Junior Jordan Keller went low, recording a match-low round of 37 to lead the Wolverines.  Nate Kennedy scratched out a round of 40 and Gino Biondi added a round of 42 while Andy Lin and Jaxon Rozanski each finished with a round of 44 for the victors.  Drake Fox finished with a team-low round of 38 for Riverside. The annual Panther Night was held Thursday at Riverside Memorial Stadium. Panther Night is a community event celebrating back to school and Fall sports teams and kicked off with the Riverside Marching Band performing and the introduction of the athletes. The event features food booths run buy many of the district booster organizations along with two food trucks and an array of apparel offerings available to help support student athletes as well. The Riverside Panthers Varsity Football team hosts Northgate on Friday, August 30th at 7:00 p.m. to kick off its regular season.

The annual Ellwood City festival took place this past weekend, bringing thousands to the grounds of Ewing Park for food, crafts and entertainment. The weekend included its annual 10k race and culminated with a fireworks spectacular Sunday evening. Bristol Borselli was crowned 2024 Little Miss Firecracker on Friday. The Ellwood City Festival kicked off Friday with its 7th Annual Little Miss Firecracker pageant. The 2024 Little Miss Firecracker crown was awarded to 6-year-old Bristol Borselli. Bristol is the daughter of Drew and Keisha Borselli. Bristol dazzled the judges with her patriotic outfit that included a red, white and blue lace dress and sparkling red cowgirl boots. The North Side Primary school hosted a Lemonade Stand that was run by 2nd Grade Entrepreneurs last week. As part of the educational day, five different stations helped all students learned how to work for themselves. Students were able to practice and demonstrate soft skills such as communicating, collaborating, co-operation, being adaptable, time management and other interpersonal skills according to Debbie Weich, North Side Primary School counselor.
