Ernest “Ernie” S. Demeter, 93, of Ellwood City passed away peacefully into eternal rest on February 2, 2020, at Heritage Valley Beaver Medical Center. He was the son of the late Stephen and Anna Marie (Chatlos) Demeter and was born February 5, 1926. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, in 1944, and married the love of his life Norma on October 2, 1948. Frank L. Goff III, 83, of Ellwood City went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Hospice following a brief illness. Born October 30, 1936 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Martin) Goff Jr. Frank was a graduate of Slippery Rock University, Westminster, Grove City College, and the University of Pittsburgh. Joseph Varga, 90, of Ellwood City, PA, passed away January 30, 2020, at his home. He was the son of the late Pap and Crepolcy (Vemes) Varga and was born September 7, 1929 in Hungary. He was a steel mill worker, working in Pennsylvania and eventually in California before relocating back to Ellwood City. He was a loving husband and father. Deborah Shirley, 59, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at the Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center following a battle with MS. Deborah was born on April 6, 1960, in McKeesport, PA to the late Darlene (Hamm) Allison and Robert H. Shirley of Ellwood City. She had attended Lincoln High School. Deborah had worked as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) at Hillview Manor, and later for Angels Cleaning Service. Mr. Christopher George Linville, 47, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020. He was born on February 7, 1972 in Ellwood City, PA to “G” Bradley Linville and Carol (Herko) Mangino. Christopher proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy as a HM3 “Corpsman”. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Christopher worked as an EDT at UPMC Passavant Hospital ER, where he would later work as an EMT for the Cranberry Ambulance Corporation. Richard P. “Dick” Borst, 78, of Chewton passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital following a brief illness. Born November 27, 1941 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Gale and Cecelia Hasslinger Borst. Dick retired in 2003 from Cemex where he worked in the Maintenance Dept.
