David F. “Mitzi” Moritza, 65, passed away at Quality Life Services New Castle on Sunday, August 22, 2021. Born in Ellwood City on November 3, 1955, Mitzi was the son of the late David and Rose Genivia Moritza.  A 1973 graduate of Lincoln High School, he participated in the school’s initial wrestling program.  He also participated in many local arm-wrestling contests.  Mitzi retired as a custodian from the Seneca Valley School District.  A lifelong fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates, he also loved the Baltimore Colts and Boston Celtics.  Mitzi played church league softball…

Mr. Anthony R. Oliastro, Sr., “Dick” went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2021. He passed unexpectedly at home. He was born in Ellwood City in 1939 to the late Rose F. Mrs. Margaret H. Perrone, 91, of Ellwood City passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Northview Estates. Mrs. Perrone was born on February 24, 1930 in Ellwood City to the late Andrew and Barbara (Paylo) Mastilak. She had graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1948. Margaret had worked at Mine Safety and Romar Textile. She is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers. Mr. Mark S. Shablesky, 66, of Koppel went home to his heavenly Father on Thursday, August 19, 2021. He was born on May 16, 1955 to the late Francis and Margaret (Andrew) Shablesky in Ellwood City. He had graduated from Beaver Falls High School with the class of 1973, and was a member of the former Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Koppel. He enjoyed collecting unique antiques. Mrs. Beverly J. McDevitt, 89, of Perry Township passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver. Mrs. McDevitt was born in Ellwood City on October 30, 1931 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ken Ketterer. She is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1949 and the Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church. Beverly also belonged to the Wurtemburg Perry Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. A homemaker, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading, and going to the family camp at Lake Chautauqua. Glenn Taylor Koach, 97, passed away peacefully of old age on August 18th 2021. Glenn, the son of Roy W. and Edna Taylor Koach, was a lifelong resident of the Ellwood City area, being born and raised in Wurtemburg, Pennsylvania. Geraldine L. Burns, 89, formerly of Ellwood City, Beaver and Mesa, AZ, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 10, 1932, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Sidney and Dorothy Whittington Little.  Her husband, Donald Burns preceded her in death on January 30, 2010.  Geraldine retired from the State Attorney General’s Office in Pittsburgh where she worked as an administrative assistant.  She and her husband lived in Ellwood City for over thirty-five years and once they retired, they split their time between Western Pennsylvania and…
