Tyler Alberts, a senior at Lincoln High School placed in the PIAA. Alberts has had an exciting year for wrestling, including signing his letter of intent to wrestle for the next four years proceeding a scholarship offered at Wheeling Jesuit University. RHS Swimmers Place Well at WPIALs, Several Advance to PIAA State Meet

   Riverside High School was well represented at the 2017 Class AA WPIAL Swimming and Diving Championships held March 2 and 3 at the University of Pittsburgh’s Trees Hall.  Nine swimmers qualified in one of three relays and several individual events.   The girls’ 200 yard freestyle relay included senior Erica King, junior Bre Finch, and freshmen Leah Frederick and McKenna Hoyman.  RHS placed 12th in a field of 21 relays, also registering a best time of 1:46.12 almost two seconds faster than their seed time.  The girls’ 400 freestyle relay was swum by King, Finch, Hoyman and freshman Abbie…

It was a battle of the unbeaten in the Ellwood City Adult Basketball League Sunday evening as Big Fun and Turncoats headlined the main event at the Family Center. Big Fun; the defending League Champions, rolled into the night’s action at 3-0 rocking the NWO Wolfpac black and red colors. Portersville Christian School Championship Games Recap

Portersville Christian School Championship Games took place this past Saturday, Feb. 25th with the junior high boys losing to Central Prep 32-16, junior high girls winning against Central 13-11, Varsity girls losing to Aquinas 44-27 and Varsity boys winning 55-45 against Cheswick. This is the first time in history that all four of Portersville Christian School’s basketball teams have gone on to the Championships in the same year. Join the Ellwood City Area Historical Society and the Ellwood City Community in honoring Hack Wilson – a baseball legend born in Ellwood City in 1900, who rivaled the mighty Babe Ruth. His 1930 statistics included the “unbreakable” record of 191 runs batted in a National League leading 56 home runs (a record that stood for 68 years), .356 batting average, and a league-leading .723 slugging percentage. Panthers Fall to North Catholic in Quarterfinals

A complete defensive gem was seen at Sewickley Academy as Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic’s suffocating zone defense caused fits for Riverside all night long. It was was a theme across the Class-3A quarterfinals as three of the four games combined to score no more than the 87 points in North Catholic’s 55-32 victory. The 3-seeded Trojans never trailed in the game, led by as many as 29 points, and forced 21 Panther turnovers. Lady Panthers Advance, Riverside Boys To Play Tonight

Riverside junior point guard Sydney Wolf scored a game high 18 points for the Lady Panthers as they secured a first round victory its WPIAL Playoff action Wednesday night in Peters Township. The Panthers pulled away from what became a close game to gain a 47-39 victory over Brownsville.  The Panthers led by double digits at halftime but had to hold on what became a four point game at the end of the third quarter.
