LHS Standout Softball Player, Aliya Garroway Commits to Saint Francis University

Lincoln High School Senior Aliya Garroway verbally committed to Saint Francis University of the NEC last Thursday. She will sign her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, November 9th at Lincoln High School. SFU, located in Loretto Pa, is coached by Jessica O’Donnell. The team has won 5 consecutive NEC titles and participated in the NCAA tournament over that same span. The University is a tremendous academic institution and is also one of the top 50 Division 1 softball programs in the country. Fluharty, Wissinger, Custer Qualify For PIAA Cross Country Championships

Three local athletes have qualified for the upcoming PIAA State Cross Country Championships. Riverside junior Lexi Fluharty finished runner-up Thursday afternoon in the WPIAL Class-A Cross Country Championships held at California University of Pennsylvania. Fluharty finished with a time 19:58.4. Joining Fluharty in qualifying for next week’s state championships is fellow junior Brooke Wissinger who finished with a 9th place time of 21:38.4. Wilmington Hockey Earns First Victory Of Season, Defeats Central Valley 9-5

The Wilmington Hockey team defeated Central Valley 9-5 at Hess Ice Rink Monday evening, earning its first victory of the young season. On Monday, Andrew Cartwright (Union) and Noah King (Wilmington) each collected five points to lead Wilmington offensive charge. BC3 Volleyball Wins Region 20 Crown, Earns Berth To North Carolina

On her final pass in her last home game, All-American Morgan Jack set up the kill Saturday that sent the No. 1-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball team to a district championship tournament in North Carolina and the setter to the top of BC3’s career list in assists. Ellwood City Fall Baseball Teams Both Earn Playoff Appearances; JV Defeated In Championship

The Ellwood City High School baseball teams wrapped up their respective fall campaigns with a combined 23-7 record between varsity and junior varsity with playoff appearances obtained by each squad. The teams were compromised of 36 players ranging from 7th grade to 12th grade. Varsity finished 10-4 (2-1 in playoffs) and missed the championship game by one run tie-breaker while the Junior Varsity finished an impressive 13-3 regular season campaign (3-1 in playoffs) and reach the championship game, falling 12-8 to the Blackhawk Cougars.
