Monaca, PA – The CCBC Board of Trustees welcomed a new member at their board meeting on Tuesday, September 20. Zachery S. Saunders of Potter Township is the newest CCBC Trustee appointed by the Beaver County Board of Commissioners. Updates: Water Treatment Plant

Pennsylvania American Water Company has been extremely cooperative and timely answering the questions we have asked them about the proposed water treatment plant: When is the new plant supposed to be installed? Construction is expected to start in early 2017 and the new treatment plant is expected to be in operation before the end of 2018. Where will the water be coming from? The new plant will be using the Connoquenessing Creek as its primary source of supply for the plant and the Beaver Run as a secondary source. Ellwood Borough Proactively Working Toward a Cleaner Environment

After recent reports of sewer contents draining into the creek behind CVS, the Borough took immediate action to resolve this particular problem, however, due to the aged infrastructure of the Borough it is likely there are more overflows that will need to be addressed. The council meeting on Monday seemed to rekindle many bitter feelings about the ongoing Ellwood Electric situation. Gibbons Announces State Grants to Help Lawrence County Fire Companies

HARRISBURG, Sept. 21 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, announced that two rural fire companies in the 10th Legislative District are receiving $5,667 in state grants to aid their operations. Bernstine Announces “No Perks” Pledge

Republican State House candidate Aaron Bernstine today signed a “No Perks Pledge,” vowing to turn down the costly extras which members of the general assembly have charged taxpayers as a way to pad their incomes. Ellwood Residents May Expect to Pay Higher Taxes

Ellwood City residents may expect to be paying higher taxes in the new year after council voted to pass a bond during their regular meeting on Monday. September’s Regular Meeting Brief

The monthly regular meeting was held last night; many things were voted on and discussed. The meeting started with a call to order followed by the roll call, Major Court was absent. There were two commendations, Jim Spielvogel was awarded the Operator Ingenuity Award, and Christ Presbyterian Church was recognized for 125 years of service. Previous Ellwood Resident Asks Borough Manager To Resign

Dave Gulish, a previous resident of Ellwood and activist against the current Ellwood Electric situation, attended last nights council meeting in order to publicly state his concerns.
