Grants Awarded To Six Beaver County Law Enforcement Agencies

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) approved grants today to help several Beaver County law enforcement agencies better protect their communities, according to Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47). The grants were awarded as part of PCCD’s Local Law Enforcement Support Grant Program, which was created by lawmakers in the state budget approved in July. Program funding can be used for many different projects or purchases to enhance public safety, such as communications system upgrades, body-worn or in-car cameras, recruitment and retention, training, surveillance cameras, automated license plate readers and more. Netflix has released the trailer for “The Pale Blue Eye,” a Christian Bale movie with scenes filmed in several Lawrence County and nearby locations. The storyline centers on a veteran detective investigating murders, assisted by a detail-oriented young cadet who later becomes legendary horror author, Edgar Allan Poe. Production moved around Western Pennsylvania during filming and includes Lawrence County’s McConnells Mill State Park and Westminster College. Hack Wilson Historical Marker Among 36 New State Historical Markers Approved

A Hack Wilson Historical Marker is among the subjects of 36 new Pennsylvania Historical Markers approved by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission (PHMC). The PA state marker is to be placed on State Route 65, Woodside Avenue, by Lincoln High School baseball fields. The Ellwood City Area Historical Society was instrumental in promoting Hack Wilson’s accomplishments. Wayne Twp Property Owners Need To Remit Tax Payments By Dec 31 To Avoid Any Penalties

Any Wayne Township local taxes and Ellwood City School tax payments not received in the office or postmarked by December 31st will be filed with the Tax Claim Bureau and the property owner will incur additional costs. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT ALL OTHER: On December 5th, at approximately 11:51 a.m., PA State Police responded to a reported theft of a real estate sign. This occured near the intersection of 16th Street and W. Lawrence Ave., Wayne Township. This theft occurred approximately between 10/31 and 11/14 according to the report. The real estate sign is an Advantage Homes Real Estate sign that is predominately blue in color with white lettering. The sign is valued at $350.00. The investigation is ongoing. Ellwood City Sheetz Store to Host Grand Opening

Sheetz will host a Grand Opening Event at the new Ellwood City location on Thursday, Dec, 22 from 9-11 a.m. The company will celebrate the opening of Store #763. Ellwood City School District’s Board of Directors Names New President, Vice President

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors held it’s combined voting and reorganization meeting Thursday night. During the reorganization meeting, Kathy McCommons was named board president, with support from Directors Norman Boots, Renee Pitrelli, Jennifer Tomon, and Kathy Tillia. Jean Biehls was also nominated with support of Directors Erica Gray, Claire Fauzey, and Gary Rozanski. Biehls had served as board president previously.
