Police: Employee Steals Money from Customer Transactions

Employee Steals Money Over Three Month Period A Beaver Falls man was accused of stealing $1,499.56 from B&B Express on 324 Lawrence Ave. According to the criminal complain, James Kosto, as an employee of B&B, would pretend to place money in the cash register during customer transactions but would actually place the money in his pocket. This occurred between Dec. 17, 2014 and March 8, 2015. On Oct. 29, 2015, Kosto admitted to stealing money to investigating officers. Relay for Life Upcoming Events

The Circle of Friends Relay For Life team is hosting a Paint Party on Saturday, March 12 as a fundraiser for the next Women’s Retreat. Hitched and Unhitched: Heart of Winter Edition

Hitched and Unhitched has been updated for the winter months of December and January. The region experienced a mild winter full of mud instead of snow. Overall, the number of couples making radical life decisions via marriage or divorce was rather low. Eight couples in the Ellwood City area sealed their love with the bonds of matrimony and nine couples filed for divorce. Check them out with this edition of Hitched and Unhitched.

Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of Feb. 15, 2016

Mayor Presents Commendation to Loccisano’s for a Century of Business

On Tuesday, Feb. 11, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented Loccisano’s Golden Dawn grocery a commendation for a 100 years of family business in Ellwood City. Members of the fourth generation generation of the Loccisano’s family received the commendation from, as well as a plaque from the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are here to recognize not one year, not five years, not 25 years, but 100 years of family-operated business in Ellwood City,” Chamber Director Ray Santillo said.

Demolition of the properties west of St. Agatha nears completion while deconstruction of the church is underway. The windows facing Spring Avenue have been removed, and crews have been dismantling the inside as well. Ellwood City School Board February Meeting Brief

The following is a brief summary of the Ellwood City Area school board meeting held on Feb. 11: Revenue/Finance A tax refund request was denied. The request was based on an erroneous millage calculation, as the property owner insisted a mil is 1/100,000, not 1/1,000. A motion to approve the audit report performed by the Philip Weiner Company for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015 was tabled until a special meeting on Feb. 23. Correction: Consultant Company Proposal Stated Incorrectly

The article “Marketing Consulting Company Presents Proposition to Skeptical EC School Board,” incorrectly presented Image Consultant’s preliminary proposal. Image Consultants’ initial quote was for $50 per hour for 32 hours, totaling $1,600. Specified services included consultation with school representatives, development of sponsorship funding levels, creation of handout materials and solicitation of potential sponsors. These rates didn’t include gas mileage, which would be charged at 57.5 cents per miles. The proposal recommended an initial 90 or 120-day contract. The quote was preliminary and open to revision.
