Earth Day Attracts Hundreds to Ewing Park to Celebrate the Planet

An estimated 700 visitors passed through Ewing Park to visit the annual Lawrence County Earth Day Celebration. Grand Finale Salon on 301 North St. is now open for business under owner Maria Perrotta. Perrotta has 38 years experience working in a hair salon and decided to take the next step and own her own salon. The business is dedicated to her late brother who always wanted Perrotta to start a business. She works with one employee, Julie Yoho. Local Emergency Responders Receive State Grants

Lawrence County Emergency Responders Receive State Grants Thirteen Lawrence County fire companies, 44 fire and ambulance companies in Beaver County and five fire and EMS companies in Butler County were recently awarded state grants, according to Senator Elder Vogel. Along the banks of the Connoquenessing Creek in Wayne Township is a family of bald eagles. Every year, since 2010, the couple has returned to the same nest to raise eaglets. To find the nest, drive to Rodger’s Park in Ellport, colloquially referred to as “The Hole,” and walk down the nature trail toward the Connoquenessing and several islands. Robert Lane of Youngstown will replace TJ Hill as the performing magician at the Relay for Life Family Friendly Night Out this Saturday. Due to unforeseen circumstances, magician TJ Hill had to cancel his performance. Lane was highly recommended to replace Hill. Police Reports: DUI, Stealing Prescription Pills

Stealing Prescription Pills from a Garbage Bin According to the criminal complaint, on April 12 at approximately 8 p.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle for an expired registration. The operator was cited. The investigating officer asked the passenger, Edward Allen Laurain, Jr., 45, of Ellwood City, for permission to search a backpack. The officer discovered a prescription bottle for oxycodone prescribed to somebody who wasn’t Laruain and containing three Percocets and one Acetaminophen and Oxycodone.
