Youth Dance at Ewing Park Pool on Monday

The Ellwood City Borough will host a youth dance at the Ewing Park swimming pool on Monday, June 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. The dance is for grades 6-8 and is the second year for the event. Admission is $3. The concession stand will be open, and there will be chaperones and a DJ. “The dance is an excellent way to celebrate the start of summer vacation,” borough council member Marilyn Mancini, one of the event’s organizers, said.

Senator Vogel Seeking Local Photos for 2017 District Calendar

Senator Elder Vogel is calling on residents to submit photos capturing the spirit and beauty of the 47th Senatorial District, with the top entries to be featured in his 2017 calendar. Contestants can submit two photos per category (spring, summer, fall and winter). The top three vote-getters in each group will serve as a featured month in Senator Vogel’s 2017 “Scenes from the 47th Senatorial District Calendar.” The contest is open to all individuals, children and adults, but photos must have been taken within the boundaries of the 47th District. Wolves Club 2016 Scholarships

Through the years, the Ellwood City Wolves Club, established in 1948, has awarded well over $200,000 in scholarships to Lincoln and Riverside high school seniors. President Mike DeOtto said that “Our Ellwood City Wolves Club members are proud to continue their long history of presenting educational scholarships and grants to area high school seniors,” President Mike DeOtto said. Photos: Memorial Day Parade

The Ellwood City Memorial Day Parade was held yesterday, honoring the men and women that died in military service for the United States of America. The parade started at 10 a.m. on the Veterans Memorial Bridge and concluded on Spring Avenue. For the first time this year, there was a picnic at Circle Playground following the parade.


Bell Memorial Church Crossing Guard Appreciation Brunch

The Ellwood City Area Crossing Guards were honored on Thursday, May 26 with an Appreciation Brunch by the Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church. This was an opportunity to honor and say “thank you” for keeping our children safe through out the school year. The event was coordinated by Mary Ann Gearhart with the help of Janie Linville and Diane Neyman. The Rev. Ray Medina, pastor of Bell Memorial, shared prayer.  


Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of 5-30-2016

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: The library will be closed on Monday, May 30, in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday. Wednesday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life.
