Criminal Complaint: Wampum Storage Unit Theft

According to the criminal complaint on Jan. 22 a Pennsylvania State Trooper was dispatched to the Mini Storage Units located at 941 Clyde Street in Wampum Borough, in reference to four units being broken into. Upon arrival the officer determined the locks were cut on all four units; surveillance photos of the suspect and the car he was driving was provided, allowing further investigation to reveal the suspect as Corey D. Rayl, 43, of Beaver Falls, PA. The estimated amount of stolen goods equals $1809.00 and Rayl will be facing felony charges of criminal trespass and entering unattended property, misdemeanor…

Medical Company Buys Old L&N Building

With the ongoing concern of the hospital potentially closing, many Ellwood residents are thankful to hear that medical companies are still investing in the local community. Council awarded the sale of the old Ellwood City owned L&N building located in Ellport to Worksite Medical, proceeding their bid of $375,000 for the property. The building was named after its original occupant, a North-Wales based company, Leeds & Northup, which relocated in 1997, leaving the property to industrial authorities until 2010 when the Borough took ownership of the property. Fashion Show and Tea

The Ellwood City Art Club will be hosting an “April Fool Fashion Show and Tea” event, Saturday April 1, 2017 from 1p.m.-3:30p.m. The event will take place at Day Springs Gifts, 316 6th Street, Ellwood City, and will include tea, cookies, music, and entertainment. Proceeds go to producing a coloring book featuring new and seasoned artists from the local community. Adult tickets are $7, 18 and under are $5.


PPA Factors, Energy Costs and Consumption Comparison for billings Dec. 2016 – March 2017

The attached information is being provided in order to inform Ellwood City Electric customers of the effect the reduction in the Transmission and Capacity charges set by PJM has had upon the Rate Adjustments (PPA Factor) and customer billings during the months of December 2016 through the upcoming billing in March 2017. Comparisons of PPA components (energy purchases, American Municipal Power-power charges, as well as Transmission and Capacity Charges) were used.
