Mayor Presents Commendation to Samuel Teolis

Mayor Anthony Court presented a commendation to Samuel Teolis, owner and respected Director of Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory after 61 years as a Funeral Director in the Ellwood City area. Mr. Teolis’s basement of the funeral home recently became a member of the PA Museums Association, it is a museum of 19th Century America and the WWI and WWII. Teolis served on the Ellwood City Area School board for 6 years,  he served as Mayor for 4 years, he was appointed Lawrence County Deputy Coroner in 1955 and served for 38 years. Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of January 16, 2016

Activities taking place for the week at the Ellwood City Area Public Library are as follows: The library is closed on Monday, January 16, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday. Portersville Christian School Open House

Portersville Christian School will hold an information Night/Open House on Monday January 23, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the church for families interested in enrolling students for the 2016-2017 school year. The school is accepting student applications and registrations prior to the release of next year’s tuition schedule at the end of March 2017. In addition to kindergarten, there are openings in most grade levels for fall 2017. CCBC School of Aviation Sciences Receives Laurel Foundation Grant to Purchase New Flight Simulator

Police: 13 Year Old Charged After Making Death Threats to the Owners of Stolen Guns

A 13 year old student was apprehended by North Sewickley Police after his direct involvement in a stolen weapons and terroristic threat incident that occurred last week. After the teen was harassing a classmate via social media, the mother of the harassed peer attempted to contact the juveniles parents and during the phone call the teen threatened to shoot the woman – unknowingly to the woman he was referring to shooting her with two loaded hand guns that had been stolen from her husband by the harassing teen and a friend at an earlier occasion. January Agenda Council Meeting Brief

Yesterday held the first of two monthly council meetings. The following was discussed and will be voted on at the next council meeting: Visitors Bill Baur, an Ellwood resident, publicly expressed his concerns about the tax increase and 2017 budget. He mentioned the pay increases for many of the Borough workers, building the public works building and electric building at the same time, and refinancing of existing debt.
