CDC on the Flu: Entire Country Experiencing Flu at Same Time

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is aware of this year’s flu epidemic and held a press conference last week with their Flu experts to update the public on the current flu statistics and outlook. Dr. Dan Jernigan, Director of the influenza division in CDC’s national center for immunization and respiratory diseases hosted the conference, starting out by saying it has been a tough flu season so far this year. Portersville Christian School Information Night/Open House

Portersville Christian School will hold an Information Night/Open House at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 27, for families interested in enrolling students for the 2018-2019 school year. The school is accepting student applications and registrations prior to the release of next year’s tuition schedule at the end of March.  In addition to kindergarten, there are openings in most grade levels for fall of 2018.  Interested families who have students entering kindergarten and grades 7 and 9 are encouraged to apply early, since these grades tend to fill up fast. Bernstine Announces Scholarship Awards to Local Teachers for Innovative Learning Projects

ELLWOOD CITY – State Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced four local educators who work at schools in the 10th Legislative District were awarded scholarships to help implement innovative, career-oriented classroom projects. Girls Can Learn STEM, Robot-Building and Programming in Free BC3 Events

Butler, PA – Girls in grades 7 to 9 can hone their understanding of science, technology, engineering and mathematics by building and programming the latest LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots in two free programs debuting at Butler County Community College. BC3 will offer for the first time a “Girls One-Day STEM Challenge” from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 27, and a 12-session “Girls Rule the World with STEM” from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7 through April 25.
