Council Votes 5-0 for New Interim Borough Manager

Ellwood City Council voted 5-0 on Thursday night to name a previous Borough Manager Joseph Cioffi, as the interim manager. Council members Rob Brough and Marilyn Mancini were absent from the special meeting. Cioffi, will be paid $30 per hour and will work a full-time shift from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Monday to Friday, starting next week. Since stepping down as manager, Cioffi has remained involved locally, serving for a time as parks and recreation director and as the playgrounds director, among other positions. New Mural Underway on the Fifth Street Underpass

Ellwood City Council gave permission last week to let the nonprofit Kitchen Cabinet group commission a local artist to paint murals on the north and south side facades of the Fifth Street underpass. Woodrow Cowher of Ellwood City, who recently completed the mural at Sweet Caroline’s ice cream shop on Lawrence Ave, began work this week. Officials hope to have the project completed by the end of summer. The project, which is funded through the Hoyt Foundation and also supported by Ellwood Community Enrichment, is expected to take about three weeks to complete. Bernstine, Vogel Urge Council to Act on Proposed Changes to Ellwood City Electric

ELLWOOD CITY – In a letter sent to members of Ellwood City Borough Council Wednesday, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-10) and Sen. Bernstine to Host Paper Shredding Event on July 28

ELLWOOD CITY – Rep. Aaron Bernstine will host a free paper shredding event on Saturday, July 28, from 9-11 a.m. at Geneva College, Parking Lot E, located at 3200 College Ave., Beaver Falls. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458.
