Wayne Township Fall Cleanup Scheduled For October 12

Wayne Township will be conducting an annual fall clean up Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 8:00am until noon. A proof of residency will be required to participate.  There is a $10.00 charge per pickup truckload. The drop off location is the Wayne Township Building, located at 1418 Wampum Road, Ellwood City, PA 16117 Information for new residents or new participants to this service for taxpayers: A resident may fill a pickup truck with unwanted items (see exceptions below) and drive to the township building and follow instructions. The Women of Faith International, Inc. will be holding their 2nd annual dinner/outreach program this year. After a successful free Christmas dinner last year the group has planned this year’s dinner for December 25, 2019 beginning at 11:00 am. Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual fall festival and car cruise event on Saturday in downtown Ellwood City. There was plenty of food, vendors, family activities, and local entertainment for the masses who attended. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 THROUGH SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5 – The Library’s Annual Book Sale will take place. Lincoln High School Launching Another Educational Trip to Costa Rica

ELLWOOD CITY, PA – Lincoln High School will hold an informational meeting about an educational trip to Costa Rica scheduled in 2021 in the Lincoln Library on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 6:30 pm. Ellwood Area School District teachers will be taking another highly popular trip to Costa Rica during June of 2021. Ellwood City Felon Sentenced to 12½ Years in Prison for Drug and Gun Offenses

PITTSBURGH – A resident of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court to 150 months imprisonment and 5 years supervised release on his conviction of violating federal firearms and narcotics laws, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today. Senior United States District Judge Reggie B. Walton imposed the sentence on Derick Davare, age 32. Portersville Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Drug Charges

PITTSBURGH – A resident of Portersville, PA, pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, crack cocaine, and heroin, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today. Raymond Chrzanowski, age 51, pleaded guilty to three counts before Senior United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab. When he’s not protecting and serving the community of Koppel, Police Chief Matt Smock finds himself sawing and designing works of art. Smock, 40, said although being a police officer is always something he has wanted to do and has been a rewarding career for the past 8 years, there isn’t as much creativity on the job as he craves. POLICE REPORTS: Several Traffic Stops Lead To Various Violations; Reckless Driving; Assault

According to a criminal complaint, on September 16 at approximately 9:00 am, in a routine patrol, Ellwood City policeman observed old Jason Santellan, 40, of Ellwood City, walking east on Crescent Avenue near Cherry Way. After confirming an active bench warrant for Mr. Santellan, police made contact with Santellan. Police asked Santellan if he had anything on him at which time Santellan provided police with a black box that he stated contained a ‘dab.’ Police took Santellan into custody on the warrant.
