VIDEO: North Sewickley Twp. Father Fatally Shot Daughter’s Boyfriend

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a North Sewickley Township father fatally shot his daughter’s boyfriend because he believed he had gotten her “hooked on drugs.” Michael D’Bagio, 41, of Sanger Drive, is charged homicide and aggravated assault after fatally shooting an Ellwood City teenager, 17-year-old Darren Jevcak, after a confrontation outside of Jevcak’s employer in New Castle. According to a criminal complaint, D’Bagio shot Jevack five or six times. When Jevcak came outside, Dbagio shot him in the arm. Six Neglected Dogs Rescued From Ellwood City Home

According to criminal complaints, in January, Humane Officers arrived at a home on 13th Street due to a humane complaint regarding several dogs that were tied outside and being neglected. At approximately 8:00 p.m. officers made contact with homeowner Andrew Johnson, 32, and later the owner of the dogs Joanne Johnson, 54, both of 412 13th Street, Ellwood City. In Johnson’s backyard, six dogs were tied up outside in the freezing weather and were without proper shelter, food, or water. In other words, the dogs were being neglected. Franklin Township Mosquito Control Event

On July 24, the PA DEP (BU 6464) will be conducting a truck-mounted, Ultra Low Volume (ULV) mosquito control event. Ellwood City Library To Host A Creative Writing Group

Starting August 14th, the Ellwood City Library will kick off this year’s Creative Writing Group. This group has been taught by Nancy Wallace for the past 12 years and meets every two weeks. Hungarian Home Scholarship Winners

(Ellwood City) Katherine Bowser and Kristina Hogue, seniors at Lincoln and Riverside high schools, respectively, have been selected to receive $500 scholarships from the Ellwood City Hungarian Home. Bowser, a daughter of Kevin and Jennifer Bowser of Ellwood City, plans to attend the Pennsylvania State University this fall and major in environmental engineering. Hogue, a daughter of Jim and Mary Hogue of New Brighton, also plans to attend the Pennsylvania State University and major in journalism/communications. Coming Soon To Main Street
