Dear EC Tax Payers, After 12 years on the Ellwood City Area School District Board, I am stepping down to pursue other endeavors.  I do so with a great deal of pride and satisfaction of our accomplishments. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Senate Approves Bernstine Legislation to Repeal State’s Asset Tax Law

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine’s (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) legislation to repeal a provision in state law that could be used as a gateway to implement a state wealth tax on personal property passed the Senate unanimously today. House Bill 1085 would repeal a law originally enacted in 1935, which aims to eliminate outdated laws and upgrade to a more efficient government. “I want to thank Senators Elder Vogel (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) and Scott Hutchinson (R-Butler, Clarion, Forest, Venango, Warren) for their partnership in getting this legislation passed by the state Senate,” said Bernstine. “This bill will help ensure that taxpayers are protected against additional…

When Ellwood City Manager Bob Villella was terminated in January 2018, the council began accepting applications for the position. Numerous applicants did not meet the advertised requirements, while others withdrew during the interview process. From the time of Villella’s dismissal until former borough manager Joe Cioffi came back on an interim basis in August 2018, council President Judith Dici performed the duties without pay. During this time, Dici garnered $500,000, administered by HOMES, for the rehabilitation of homes of low- and moderate-income property owners and met with DCED representatives to better evaluate needs of municipal offices. NEW BEAVER, Pa.  – Pennsylvania American Water announced today that the company will be hosting a community open house at its recently completed $50 million water treatment plant on Saturday, Nov 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located in New Beaver Borough, the new treatment facility serves approximately 18,000 customers in southern Lawrence and Butler Counties and northeastern Beaver County. Ellwood City to Keep Parking Meters … for Now

Council voted to table a motion to eliminate parking meters on Lawrence and Bell avenues and Fifth Street. Council was divided on the issue during the October 21 meeting with George Celli, Michelle Lamenza, and James Barry voting to table and Rob Brough, Lisa Guerrera, and Judith Dici voting to move forward with the motion.
