Riverside Lions Club Monthly Update

The Riverside Lions Club had a busy past few weeks hosting events, providing support, and earning awards. The month of February started the Lions Club off with the Math 24 competition. The Riverside club spearheads this event and is supported by all the Lions clubs in Beaver County and Pizza Joes. This year’s event was held at the New Brighton High School, with approximately 150 students participating. Math 24 is a card game played by 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students designed to test their skills with math puzzles. There is a competition at each school in the…

Craft & Vendor Show On Saturday

Come out and enjoy a craft and vendor show on Saturday, May 4th. The show will take place at Lillyville Church of God, located on Hickernell Road, Ellwood City. Basket raffles, red & white pizza, nachos, Orams doughnuts, and bake sale will be offered in addition to the crafts vendors on display. The event is sponsored by the Ellwood City Area Municipal Woman’s Club and all proceeds go towards scholarship awards and area civic needs.

Over $6.3 Million in State Infrastructure Grants Announced For Beaver & Lawrence Counties

Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) and State Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) each announced on Wednesday that over $6.3 million in state infrastructure grants have been awarded to the Beaver & Lawrence Counties, including $5 million to a waterline and sewer project in Wampum Borough. “It is great to see the continued investments into the 47th District, especially when it comes to investing in water line and stormwater improvement projects that are a priority in our area,” said Vogel. “Maintaining all aspects of our local infrastructure is a crucial part of providing a safe community for our residents to thrive in.”…

$600M Settlement Reached By Norfolk Southern Related To East Palestine Train Derailment

HARRISBURG – In the wake of the recent $600 million settlement reached by Norfolk Southern in its class-action lawsuit related to its train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, last year, state Sens. When the members of the Lincoln High School Class of 1969 received their diplomas, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walk on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission and the Woodstock festival rocked a farm in upstate New York for three days. Two Ellwood City Schools To Operate Remotely Monday Due To Heating Issues

According to information made available by the district Monday morning, Lincoln High School and Hartman Intermediate School will be closed and operate on a FID (Flexible Instruction Day) on Monday, April 22, 2024 due to maintenance issues. Borough Code Enforcement Reminder To Residents To Keep Grass Trimmed

Spring is here and Summer is just around the corner. Grass is growing and many homeowners are attending to their property. April started yard waste pick-ups for borough residents. The Ellwood City Borough Code Enforcement Officer Ralph Chiappetta would like to remind borough residents that the grass ordinance will begin to be enforced starting May 1st The legal height for grass/weeds is not to exceed SIX (6) inches. Vogel Announces Over $20 Million Awarded in Beaver & Butler Counties To Improve Access to High-Speed Internet

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) announced today that Comcast Cable Communications, LLC (Beaver County) is being awarded over $4.2 million and Armstrong Telecommunications, Inc. (Butler County) is being awarded over $16.6 million to increase access to reliable, high-speed internet, according to Sen.
