The Ellwood City Area School Directors approved Policy 201 Admission of Students during the Thursday night voting meeting. The policy was amended for early admission to kindergarten. The amended section regarding early admission to kindergarten now states: Physical, social and emotional maturity must be adequate to function satisfactorily in the Ellwood City Area School District’s kindergarten program. Department of Health Provides Update on COVID-19, New Presumptive Positives Bring Statewide Total to 21

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health this morning confirmed five additional presumptive positive case of COVID-19 — four residents from Montgomery County and one resident from Northampton County. All are adults and are either in isolation at home or being treated at the hospital. In an abundance of caution, the Borough of Ellwood City has decided to limit the access of all non-essential employees and visitors to all Borough-owned buildings. New Castle Man Pleads Guilty to Cocaine-Related Drug Charges

PITTSBURGH – A former resident of New Castle, PA pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of violating federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today. Wesley Cox, also known as Michael Deshawn Carter, age 38, pleaded guilty to two counts before United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan. In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that from 2017 through May 2019, Cox participated in a conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and 280 grams or more of cocaine base, in the form commonly known as crack.
