Route-288 Relocation Project To Hold Virtual Public Meeting

Independence Excavating is holding a Virtual Public Meeting regarding the SR 288 Relocation project on July 12th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. The project is located adjacent to the Zelienople Municipal Airport at the intersection of SR 288 and Lake Road. Governor Wolf Signs Legislation Expanding Access to Medical Marijuana

On Wednesday, Governor Tom Wolf signed legislation that will provide important updates to Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana Act to ensure better access for patients. House Bill 1024 acts on recommendations made by the Department of Health to revise the Medical Marijuana Act, which was signed into law in 2016. Specifically, it protects patient safety standards and product quality of Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana program while empowering the Medical Marijuana Advisory Board to continue to consider new medical conditions for eligibility. Fireworks to Provide Flare for Ellwood City

Fireworks will light up the night sky on Friday, July 2, beginning at 9:45 p.m. The Zambelli display will be set off at Stiefel Park this year. Organizer Eric Rayner said the fireworks were made possible at the last minute by Visit Lawrence County, which donated $1,000, Ellwood City Forge with a $2,000 donation, the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce providing a $500 donation, and the Festival Committee is picking up the tab for the police presence. Mayor Court’s office announced the third winner of its annual beautification awards. The 3rd winner for the “Mayor Court’s Beautification Award” was awarded to Audrey and Chris Otlowski of 300 Johnston Drive, in Ellwood City. “The Otlowski’s take pride in their yard and it looks awesome,” said Mayor Court in a statement. Bernstine Votes ‘No’ on State Budget That Increases Spending by 8.8%

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Beaver/Lawrence) today voted “no” on the state budget for Fiscal Year 2021-22.
