The 2nd Avenue Project Performs at The Final Community Concert Season Event

The Ellwood City Community Stage closed its concert season this Saturday with The 2nd Avenue Project. The 2nd  Avenue Project is a horn band known for playing funk, rock and soul from Ohio and western Pennsylvania. The group played a variety of music Saturday night including songs like “Saturday in the Park” and “Make Me Smile” by Chicago. The group plays more than 45 concerts a year with the summer being its busiest time. Thirteen years ago the group was formed, mainly with musicians who played with the Vocal Group Hall of Fame that was founded by Tony Butala. Below you…

Over 37 million people in 16,124 communities celebrate America’s National Night Out against crime. National Night Out,  began in 1984 in an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. National Night Outs are held on the first Tuesday of August. Franklin Township held their 6th Annual Community Day National Night Out Event on, August 7. Ellwood City Library Activities for Week of August 13

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Yellow Ribbon Girls Carnival August 11

The Yellow Ribbon Girls, which are based out of Ellwood City, have a Carnival coming up on August 11 with proceeds to benefit the Yellow Ribbon Girls Care Package Postage Fund. The Ellwood City area is filled with those who need help, support, assistance, guidance and above all encouragement. Weather it’s from a lost job, health problems,drug or alcohol, pregnancy, divorce or a host of other issues, people need “love and hope.” A one-day H.O.P.E. festival is coming to Ellwood City on Saturday August 25 from 10 am to 5 pm on Lawrence Ave between 4th street and 6th street.
