Attention Lincoln and Riverside High School Seniors

The annual Ellwood City Area Historical Society Scholarship submission is quickly approaching.  In hand, the deadline is Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 2:00 p.m.  The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will award two $1500.00 scholarships to two (2) graduating seniors.  Graduating seniors from Lincoln High School and Riverside High School who have been accepted to attend a college, Trade School or Performing Arts are eligible.  Applications may be received from the High School Student Guidance Counselor or from the Ellwood City History Center. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include TUESDAY, ARIL 2 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 months of age, toddlers and preschoolers. Valerie Valentino conducted a meeting of the Corona D’italia #807 Memorial Scholarship Committee on Wednesday, March 20, 5:00 PM at Pizza Joe’s. The session began with the group enjoying lunch of their choice. Lois DiFrischia presented candy favors to all in attendance. The committee will host a Mother-Daughter-Scholarship dinner on Tuesday, May 07, 5:00 PM at the Wolverine Restaurant. This will represent the final awarding of two $500.00 scholarships as the Lodge has disbanded. 10,000 Friends of PA Continues South Side Revitalization Program in New Castle

New Castle, PA (March 2019) – 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania kicked off the second year of its $1.35 million revitalization program in New Castle’s South Side neighborhood on Monday, March 18, 2018 at the Gussie Walker Community Center with investors, public officials, neighborhood organizations, residents and business owners in attendance. Everett Bleakney welcomed guests attending the March general meeting, advising the purpose of the Historical Society is to collect, protect and promote the area history and make it accessible to all. Joe Fisher, Commander of American Legion Post 157, lead the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. Toxic Trash Disposal Day Announced For Franklin & Marion Townships

Residents living in the Franklin and Marion Townships will be able to drop off their household hazardous and electronic waste “the right way” on Saturday, April 6 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Those who wish to participate can drop their items off at the Franklin Township Municipal Building. Registration is required for this event, so visit the ECSR website or call 866-815-0016.  50 registrants are required for the event to take place.
