Mayor’s Crime Watch and Advisory Meetings Rescheduled

The May 26, 2016 Crime Watch meeting and the Mayor’s Advisory meeting have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. The Crime Watch meeting  is rescheduled for Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. and the Mayors Advisory meeting is also rescheduled for Thursday, June 30 at 3 p.m.


Memorial Day Committee Extends Invitation to Participate

The Ellwood City Memorial Day Committee would like to extend an invitation to the entire community to participate in this year’s parade. Invitation to veterans of all ages and branches to walk or ride in the parade in honor of the men and women who died in military service for the United States of America.  Any veteran unable to walk the parade route will have the opportunity to ride on a float with other veterans. Portersville Christian School will hold an information Night/Open House on Tuesday, May 31 at 7 p.m. for families interested in enrolling students for the 2016-2017 school year. Jozek, Ellwood City Borough’s Police Dog, Retires

Jozek, the Ellwood City Borough’s first police, will retire at the end of this month after nine years of service. His career was honored during a ceremony at the borough council agenda meeting on Monday. Jozek has worked with Sgt. Michael McBride from week one of his training. Since 2007, Jozek has been involved in 247 arrests and 11 bite apprehensions, including sniffing out 789 stamp doses of heroin coated in grease and concealed in a secret compartment in a van. “Walk this Way” Fashion Show and Tea

Dayspring Harvest Ministries and the Ellwood City Art Club will host a fashion show and tea on Saturday, May 14. Four Environmental Projects in 47th Senate District Awarded State Grants

  Four different environmental projects in the 47th Senate District will receive Growing Greener grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, according to Senator Elder Vogel Jr. The Lawrence County Conservation District will receive $810,283 for the Slippery Rock Watershed Agricultural Restoration project. Stream Restoration Inc., will receive $99,785 towards the Raccoon Creek Bank & Buffer Project. The Allegheny County Conservation District will receive $54,395 for remediation of the Raccoon Creek Streambank.
