Photos: Lincoln High School Class of 2016 Commencement

Lincoln High School awarded 117 diplomas to the Class of 2016 during graduation ceremonies yesterday in the high school auditorium. The class valedictorians, Nikol Damato and Paige Mason, gave speeches, along with student council president Carter MacMurdo and school board president Renee Pitrelli. MacMurdo, a high honor graduate, is attending the u.S. Naval Academy, which requires a rigorous application process including a nomination from a U.S. Congress member, U.S. Senator, the president or vice president. Corona D’Italia May Meeting

Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their annual Mother-Daughter-Scholarship dinner Wednesday, May 4 at 5 p.m. at the Wolverine Restaurant. Members and guests were greeted and registered by Patti Kuhn, Maura Greco and their mother the lodge treasurer, Louise Vitullo. The lodge sentinel, Lois DiFrischia, directed the seating of the scholarship honorees, guests and members. Each place setting was presented with favors made by Orator Valerie Valentino. Youth Dance at Ewing Park Pool on Monday

The Ellwood City Borough will host a youth dance at the Ewing Park swimming pool on Monday, June 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. The dance is for grades 6-8 and is the second year for the event. Admission is $3. The concession stand will be open, and there will be chaperones and a DJ. “The dance is an excellent way to celebrate the start of summer vacation,” borough council member Marilyn Mancini, one of the event’s organizers, said.

Wolves Club 2016 Scholarships

Through the years, the Ellwood City Wolves Club, established in 1948, has awarded well over $200,000 in scholarships to Lincoln and Riverside high school seniors. President Mike DeOtto said that “Our Ellwood City Wolves Club members are proud to continue their long history of presenting educational scholarships and grants to area high school seniors,” President Mike DeOtto said. Bell Memorial Church Crossing Guard Appreciation Brunch

The Ellwood City Area Crossing Guards were honored on Thursday, May 26 with an Appreciation Brunch by the Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church. This was an opportunity to honor and say “thank you” for keeping our children safe through out the school year. Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of 5-30-2016

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: The library will be closed on Monday, May 30, in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday. Wednesday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life.
