Ellwood City Wolves Club Celebrates 75th Anniversary With Dinner

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den 11 celebrated their 75th Anniversary with a Dinner at the Connoquenessing Country Club on Wednesday. The Dinner was attended by 85 members and their guests, including the current National Wolves Club President, Craig Mamone of Rochester, PA. The master of ceremonies, long time member Ray Santillo, conducted the program and highlighted the history of the club. The club began in 1948 by four local businessmen (Brothers Deno and Frank Barsotti, P O Contrucci and A P Folino) chartered in 1951 and received their seal in 1954. Baney Presents Historical Society With Booklet On Wiley Hill Baptist Church

Monday night at the monthly Ellwood City Historical Society meeting, attorney Dylan Baney presented the Society with a large booklet on the history of the Wiley Hill Baptist Church. Accepting the gift from Dylan is Andy Kindle (pictured right), first Vice President of the Historical Society. Looking on, and standing to left, is Lawrence County Commissioner, Dan Vogler. Baney graduated from Lincoln High School in 2015. He attended Slippery Rock University and obtained a Bachelors degree in political science. Lucarelli Strikes Out 11, Panthers Shutout Shenango; Ellwood City Bounces Back To Defeat Neshannock

Christian Lucarelli struck out 11 Wildcat batters over 4 2/3 shutout innings as the Panthers shutout Shenango 11-0 to complete its mini series sweep. Lucarelli allowed only two hits – both singles – and three walks in his victory on the rubber. The win pushes the Panthers record to 7-0 on the season. REMINDER: Community Garden Poster Contest Deadline Friday

The deadline for the Community Garden Poster Contest is Friday! The Ellwood City Borough Department of Public Works opened up the contest last month to all children between the ages of 4-12 to participate by submitting their carefully crafted and drawn artwork. Space Still Available For Municipal Woman’s Spring Craft Show

Vendor space is still available for the upcoming Municipal Woman’s Spring Craft Show scheduled to take place next month. Come out and exhibit to take part in the craft show that will take place on May 6th at the Wayne Township Firehall. Vendor fee is $25.00 and will earn a space with a table. Ellwood City Area Historical Monthly Meeting Recap

The April 10, 2023 meeting of the Ellwood City Area Historical Meeting was called to order at 7:00PM by Bob Morabito, President, reminding those present of the mission of the Society. He then asked WWII Veteran Guy Prestia to lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Morabito announced that Guy will celebrate his 101st birthday on Tuesday, April 25! A commendation was presented to Roberta Page by Mayor Anthony J. Court and Council President George J. Celli at a recent council meeting. Wolverines Blast Blackhawk, Rozanski Earns 200th Career Victory

Ellwood City made quick work of Blackhawk Tuesday afternoon at Stiefel Park, earning head coach Gary Rozanski his 200th career coaching victory. The non-section contest was halted after five innings as the Lady Wolverines mercy ruled the Cougars 15-1. Yard Waste Collection Begins in Ellwood City Borough

Yard waste collection began this week and will continue until the end of November, according to the Borough’s Facebook page. Circled days show yard waste collection, shaded days show recycling collection. Green borough yard waste bins are for residents to dispose of their simple yard waste. Yard waste bins are available for purchase for $62.00 and can be purchased at the borough utility office or by calling 724-758-5576.
