GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: After falling to Blackhawk earlier in the week, the Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team rebounded for victory Wednesday. The victory evens the Wolverines early season record at 1-1. On Tuesday, Ellwood City exchanged set victories with the Bridgers and gained the match with a 15-13 5th set victory. The Wolverines won set 1 (25-12) and set 3 (25-17). POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL TRESPASSING: On August 26th at approximately 10:15 p.m., PA State Police were dispatched to Young Road, Slippery Rock Township, for a burglary in progress. According to the report, it was determined that after dropping someone off at the residence, Timothy Myers, 42, attempted to enter the residence through multiple doors and windows. Myers was confronted by the homeowner and advised that police were on the way, and he left prior to State Police arriving the report relates. When the members of the Lincoln High School Class of 1968 received their diplomas, The Jackson 5’s, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Aretha Franklin were at the top of the music charts. Hack Wilson Marker Dedicated

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society hosted a lively ceremony to dedicate the new Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission roadside marker on Woodside Avenue (State Route 65) honoring Ellwood City-born Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Lewis Robert “Hack” Wilson on Friday August 25, 2023 at the Lincoln High School Baseball Field in Ewing Park. PHOTOS – Panther Night 2023

Riverside School District held its annual Panther Night Thursday evening at Riverside Memorial Stadium. The program included the introduction of the Panthers fall sports programs and the Riverside marching band. The Panthers football team will have its first home game on Friday, September 1st versus South Side at Riverside Memorial Stadium.  The Panthers also host Ellwood City in the annual Riv-Ell game scheduled for Friday, October 27th.
