Special Activities Group of the Holy Redeemer Church Celebrates 60th Anniversary

On Sunday, October 22, 2023, members of the Special Activities Group of the Holy Redeemer Church met to celebrate their 60th Anniversary. Fifty four members and their guests were present and enjoyed a meal of chicken marsala, beef tips, meatballs and pasta. John Biondi presented a history of the Special Activities Group (fondly called SAG). The Group was created in 1963 by parishioners who wanted to assist in funding non-budgeted items the school and church would need during a year. Man Arrested In Perry Township Homicide Investigation

Yohance Mercer-Huffman, 28, was taken into custody on Saturday, October 21st at approximately 4:00 p.m. in connection with the September homicide on River Road, Perry Township that left a Corry, PA woman dead. According to a police report, and on October 20th, PA State Police filed criminal charges in Magisterial District Court 53-3-01 against Mercer-Huffman, in connection with the shooting of Julie Anne Wegmiller and her husband Edwin Wegmiller. Annual Richard Hogue Memorial Blood Drive Scheduled For November 21

The annual Richard Hogue Memorial Blood Drive has been announced and scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Hogue was only 28 when his life was taken on November 16, 2013. At the time of his death, he resided in Enon Valley, worked for Nick Mars Construction as a carpenter, and was a member of the Ellwood City Eagles Club. SIMPLE ASSAULT: James Hammond, 28, of Wampum, is charged with Simple Assault and Terroristic Threats after an incident on October 14th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 10:20 p.m., PA State Police responded to an inactive domestic altercation at a residence on Guy Way, Wayne Township to be informed a female had been physically attacked by her boyfriend and that he vacated in a grey car.
