Ellwood City Area Public Library Book Sale to Honor Former Director Veronica Pacella

Veronica Pacella created a legacy of love for literacy, and the Ellwood City Area Public Library will honor that legacy with a book sale in her name. Veronica’s Legacy Book Sale will be held March 6th,7th, and 8th during regular library hours. Upon her death, Veronica gifted the library more than 1,000 books from her personal collection. Ellwood City Wolves Club Monthly Meeting Notes

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den 11 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday February 26, 2025 at the Connequenessing Country Club. President Mike DeOtto led the meeting and thanked the members for assisting at the recent Golf Bash held on February 16 at the Ellwood City Sons of Italy. A record number attended (450). All the money raised goes into their scholarship fund. Scholarship Chairman John DiBuono reported on the progress regarding this years Scholarship Awards. Riverside Panthers Finish 15th Overall In WPIAL Class 2A Swimming Championships

The Riverside Panthers boys swim team placed 15th Overall in the WPIAL Class 2A Swimming & Diving Championships that took place Thursday and Friday at Treas Pool on campus at the University of Pittsburgh. The Panthers relay team shined with a top-10 finish in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. The team qualified both the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay for the PIAA state championships. Bernstine Introduces Legislation to Protect Parental Rights in Medical Decisions for Minor Children

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) has introduced legislation aimed at protecting the rights of parents and guardians in the medical decision-making process for their minor children. The bill, known as Simon’s Law, would require health care professionals or facilities to notify parents before placing a do-not-resuscitate (DNR) order on any patient under the age of 18. Riverside High School Swim Coach Arrested After Inappropriate Relationship With Student

A Riverside High School swim coach was arrested Wednesday for alleged misconduct with a student athlete. According to a criminal complaint and published reports, Alaina Marshall, 29, of Beaver Falls was charged with 40 felonies, consisting of 38 counts of intercourse/sexual contact with a student, in addition to corruption of minors, and unlawful contact with a minor. Police say the relationship began in 2023 when the victim, a 16-year-old sophomore at the time, first talked about a breakup he was going through with Marshall because Marshall was also a therapist. Aaron Lake posted a double-double Monday evening to lead Ellwood City to a 60-57 victory over Southmoreland in WPIAL Consolation action. The victory advances the Wolverines (15-10 Overall) to the WPIAL Class 3A Fifth-Place game against Shady Side Academy on Wednesday.
