Color Center Hosts “Father’s Day Decoupage”

In need of a Father’s Day gift? Register for Color Center’s “Father’s Day Decoupage,” and transform three wooden blocks into a timeless 3D collage. The event will be held Saturday, June 18 from 10 a.m. to noon. To participate, register at the Color Center by June 15. The cost is $15. Guests are asked to submit 9-12 pictures (recommended at least three pictures per block). Pictures will be copied, resized and edited to give an aged appearance. However, guests can request their pictures remain unedited when submitting. Pictures used for the craft will be available the day of the event….

Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of 6-13-2016

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, June 13, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. Riverside Advances to Semi-Finals; Ellwood Season Over

Riverside baseball and Ellwood softball played the same school at the same time at the same place: Moniteau High School on Thursday at Slippery Rock University. Unfortunately, the results weren’t the same. Riverside continued its scoreless streak, winning 1-0 over the District IX school. Pitcher Michael Boswell struck out eight, extending his record to 40 scoreless innings. Riverside advances to the semifinals, playing Bishop McCort on Monday. Bernstine Opens Headquarters, Plans Open House

State House candidate Aaron Bernstine will hold an open-house at his new campaign headquarters in Ellwood City Wednesday, June 15, inviting the general public. Wampum Area Business Association Presents the Allegheny Drifters

There will be a free concert at the Wampum gazebo on Sunday, June 12 starting at 7 p.m. The Allegheny Drifters, a bluegrass band, will perform. The event is organized by the Wampum Area Business Association. The concert will be held in the L. Butler Hennon Gymnasium in the event of rain. Relay for Life 2016: Paint Your World Purple

The Ellwood City Relay for Life 2016 will honor cancer survivors with a “Paint Your World Purple” theme. This year’s Relay for Life will run Saturday from noon to midnight, rain or shine. Twelve teams are registered to walk around the track and participate in events that include a balloon release, exercise demonstration, basket auction and world survivor lap. “Purple is the symbol of hope and courage for cancer survivors,” Jackie Kline, the Relay for Life publicity chairperson, said. “Cancer is no longer a death sentence.” Kline is a 10 year, going on 11 year, survivor of breast cancer. Gibbons: Daniel’s Bill Advances in House

HARRISBURG, June 8 – A bill introduced by state Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, was approved by the House Judiciary committee this week. Gibbons legislation commonly referred to as Daniel’s law (H.B. 853) is designed to toughen penalties for distracted driving accidents.
