“Incredible weather for the third day in a row resulted in strong sales in the parish’s Outside Kitchen Food Booths which opened for lunch on Friday. Letter to the Editor: Let’s Preserve Our Drinking Water Source

The German investors that own our local water works plan to build a new facility which will not use Slippery Rock Creek water to service its customers. It will be built on land adjacent to the Ellwood City-Wampum road and will draw its water from both the Connoquenessing Creek and Beaver River. I cannot believe we would knowingly give up our wonderful Slippery Rock water for these other very inferior sources. Electric Meeting Set for Monday

A town hall on the Ellwood Borough Electric Department will be held on Monday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. in the borough auditorium. An official from American Municipal Power (AMP) will be present. The electric department has been subject of citizen criticism after bills dramatically increased in July, bringing to the forefront concerns over customer service, billing and the necessity of the department itself. Please help us restore this important waterway back to its beautiful, natural state by removing the physical garbage that consumes it. Early Learning Open Enrollment at Ewing Park on Aug. 6

Early Learning open enrollment. will be held at Ewing Park in Shelter 3A on Aug. 6 from noon to 3 p.m. The program offers childcare for infants, toddlers and preschool children.The program is through Lawrence County Community Action Partnership (LCCAP), a non-profit organization in Lawrence County that serves individuals in need through a variety of programs.
