Breaking News: Accident on 6th Street

Updated: 9/15/16 Officers, firefighters, and paramedics crowded the intersection of 6th and Crescent after receiving reports of a car accident. At approx 1:20 p.m. there was an accident involving a GMC truck and a Chevrolet car. According to the accident report, the driver of the Chevrolet didn’t see the other vehicle driving south on 6th before pulling out at the stop sign at the intersection of Crescent and 6th, striking the GMC and causing it to do a 180 degree spin. There was considerable front end damage to the Chevy and the GMC had some visible damage on the side….

Last Nights Council Agenda Meeting Brief

Yesterday held the agenda meeting for the month, the following was discussed and will be voted on at the next meeting on Monday the 19th: Christopher Brant asked council for approval on his proposed community project for Boy Scouts, (read the full story here). A visitor asked council about a previous 90 minute parking proposal due claims of students taking up parking spaces in front of homes, that had yet to be resolved. Boy Scout Proposed Community Project to Council

Christopher Brant is a 17 year old Boy Scout member who attended last nights council meeting and bravely presented his proposed community project to council. Brant started by introducing himself, “My name is Christopher Brant and I am a Boy Scout of Troop 806 here in Ellwood City. 2016 Spring Cleanup Program

The spring clean up program will be held on Saturday, September 17, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. The drop off will be at 1200 Factory Avenue. Procedure: Residents who wish to dispose of their items are to provide our Utility Billing Office with a copy of their electric bill or driver’s license for identification (or an authorized Government ID for non-drivers).  The individual will then be given a numbered tag for $5.00 entitling the recipient to drop off up to one (1) pickup-sized truck/car load at the site.  The tag will be collected at the site located inside the…


Tax Office: Thursday Will be the Last Day for School Tax Discount

This Thursday the 15th will be the last day to receive a school tax discount from the tax office located in the Municipal Building. The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closed Friday the 14th. Any questions please call 724-758-9673.

PHOTOS: Rescue Dog Visits North Side

Daisy, a 4 year old Dogo Argentino, and her handler Melissa Parker visited North Side Primary School on Friday afternoon as part of the schools “service learning projects” scheduled throughout the year to teach the students about their community. The event was used to introduce and educate the students on rescue dogs and emphasizing the impact the responding police, fireman, and other rescue dogs can have in certain events. PHOTOS: Wolverine offense struggles, Hopewell prevails

Points scored in football games is usually done by the offensive side of the ball.  For fans who love the up-tempo offense, quick scores, and plenty of scrimmage yards, Friday night’s game vs. Hopewell would have been an eyesore of drives that just didn’t finish. Between Hopewell and the Wolverines, over 100 plays were taken on the night.  However, the snaps only mounted to a game total of 431 offensive yards from both teams together.  With that being said, drama did occur late in the game.
