Relay Team Overcomes Obstacles to Break Record and Qualify for States

Ellwood City’s girl’s track and field 4 x 100 meter relay team is on the road to states. The team broke a 39-year old record at the Tri-County Invitational a few weeks ago, broke their new record a week later at the WPIAL qualifiers, and again at the WPIALs. Their current record is 50.8 seconds, and the team is prepared to break that at the PIAA meet at Shippensburg this Friday and Saturday. Why to Vote Today

[Statements, opinion, and views expressed in this column are those of the author named and are not necessarily those of the EllwoodCity.org and Thought Process Enterprises team.] I’m guessing a lot of Ellwoodians, probably the majority of Ellwoodians, won’t vote today. I’ve never voted in a local election. However, I’ve gotten a bit interested in local politics- interested enough to take 10 minutes to vote. In national elections, there’s no shortage of excuses to not vote. US News uses three levels of criteria to rank schools. First, if students are performing better than expected. Mayor Disappointed in Community

At Monday’s Borough Council agenda meeting, Mayor Anthony J. Court voiced his disappointment with the community. Nine political signs have been stolen from four candidates. The Mayor wishes to inform all that the police department is taking this very seriously. The maximum fine for stealing a sign is $300, which the Mayor will push for when the guilty are apprehended. It is believed more than one party is involved. Additionally, drivers are still speeding in the Borough. In just 12 hours, 55 citations were issued in speed traps. The Mayor will continue using speed traps until the problem is solved….

Can Your Musical Taste Be Superior to Others?

[Statements, opinion, and views expressed in this column are those of the author named and are not necessarily those of the EllwoodCity.org and Thought Process Enterprises team.] I had a nightmare once that went as follows. I was driving with my friend and a Nickelback CD was playing. My friend said, “Why are we listening to this? Why do you own this?” I said, “It was only two dollars, and there’s some songs on it that I think are okay.” Then I woke in a cold sweat. The point made is that there is a notion that some music is…
