CCBC Nursing Alumna Helps Patient Attend College for the First Time

Monaca, PA – Ms. Dolores Myers always wanted to go to college but never had the opportunity until the age of 85. With the help of CCBC nursing alumna Katie Manni, Ms. Myers’ longtime dream of going to college came true at Community College of Beaver County. “We had a happy life growing up and lived in a good neighborhood but times were different then. Police: Uni-Mart Retail Theft

According to the police report, on Oct. 20 the pictured male stole merchandise from the Uni-Mart in Ellwood. A “handful” of Blow Pops which cost .25c each, and a bottle of Listerine Mouth Wash which cost $5.59 was stolen by the actor who fled the scene after being confronted by one of the store personnel. Police are still searching for the man and encourage anyone with information regarding the incident to report it. Turkey Dinner

First United Methodist Church, located at 416 Crescent Ave, Ellwood City, PA 16117, is hosting their 39th annual turkey dinner on Saturday November 5 from 4p.m.-6p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids aged 5-10, and free for children under 5. Wampum Area Christmas Parade

It’s that time again and plans are underway for the “44th” Annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade. It will be held on Saturday December 3 at 1p.m. This event is sponsored by the Wampum America Legion Post 749, American Legion Auxiliary, Wampum Lions Club, Wampum Area Woman’s Club and Wampum Area Business Association. Lincoln High School will be performing The Little Mermaid as their musical this year. The high school was teetering between choosing The Little Mermaid or the Addams Family for the musical this year, but The Little Mermaid prevailed and the overall feeling about the final choice is excitement. Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 officers and members celebrated Columbus Day with their annual dinner on Wednesday, October 5 at 5p.m. at the Wolverine Restaurant. Lincoln High School celebrated their upcoming play, The Little Mermaid, by hosting an “Under the Sea Extravaganza” last Saturday so kids could meet Ariel and all of her friends!
