Sign-up for ‘Treat Bags from Santa’ begins Friday Nov 4th at the Wampum Boro Bldg. As in past years, the Wampum Christmas Parade begins at 1 PM on the first Saturday in December. Immediately following the Parade, children who are registered go to the Wampum Gymnasium to visit Santa and Mrs. Clause and receive a treat bag. In celebration of Halloween, the Eric Ryan Corporation, one of Ellwood City’s largest employers, hosted their annual employee Halloween Party today which included festivities not only for the employees but also for the children and grandchildren of the employees. Employees enjoyed a luncheon with a large array of homemade dishes, a parade around the building, and a costume contest complete with prizes for the winners, and for the children the office hosted an “office Trick or Treat”. According to the police report, two self-proclaimed bounty hunters were stopped in Ellwood on Monday night after an officer noticed their vehicle had a burnt out taillight and the bumper was scraping on the ground every time the vehicle hit a bump. When the officer pulled the vehicle over and asked the driver for the vehicles information, the driver and passenger both pulled out a badge on a chain from under their shirts and stated they were agents and that the back seat passengers were in training. The Ellwood City United Fund held its annual “Get Acquainted Mixer” at Nico Lucianos Café on Wampum avenue last Tuesday evening. Over 60 invited guest and service agencies enjoyed special prepared refreshments, a silent auction and door prizes. Connie MacDonald, president of the United Fund introduced city and county guest that were in attendance.
