PLAYOFFS! Three Local Basketball Teams Qualify For WPIAL Playoffs

For the second consecutive season both the Ellwood City boys and girls basketball teams have qualified for their respective WPIAL Playoffs. The Riverside Panthers girls basketball team has also qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs. The Lady Wolverines (13-8, 8-6 Section 1-3A), who drew a #10 seed, will travel to Chartiers Valley HS on Friday evening to face #5 Seton LaSalle in opening round action. ECASD Board of Directors Authorizes Appeal for Proposed Softball Field

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors voted to appeal the Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law and Adjudication of the Zoning Hearing Board of the Borough of Ellwood City relating to the proposed softball field during Monday’s regular meeting. All board members in attendance voted yes to support the appeal, and director Norman Boots was absent from the meeting. Director Kevin Boariu said he supports the appeal because he does not want the property to sit vacant and that he does not believe that the District should be in the business of owning unused property. Butler County Community College is proud to announce the names of students who have made the President’s List and Dean’s List for the fall 2024 semester, as well as the names of those who have graduated recently. PHOTOS: Riverside Boys Basketball Team Defeats New Brighton On Senior Night

Evan Skinner led a trio of Panthers scoring in double figures Friday night as Riverside knocked off New Brighton 65-36 on Senior Night. Skinner finished with four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 18 points in the victory. Will Sullivan (16 points) and McCartney Plassmeyer (10 points) joined Skinner in double figures. Skinner poured in 13 first half points as Riverside raced out to a 36-17 halftime advantage. Riverside Boys Swimming Team Earns Runner-Up Finish At Beaver County Championships

The Riverside Varsity Swimming competed at the Beaver County Swim and Dive Championships last weekend at Beaver Area High School The Riverside Boys Team earned runner-up for the meet while the Riverside Girls Team finished 5th. This is a new meet added for the teams this season where six schools from Beaver County met to compete. PHOTOS: Riverside Routs New Brighton On Senior Night

The Riverside girls basketball team easily dispatched of visiting New Brighton Thursday night during its senior night contest. The Lady Panthers defeated the Lions 60-7 to help run their regular season record to 14-8 Overall. DeLana Fox and Camryn Friello each scored 11 points for Riverside. Emma Meyer also reached double figures with 10 points in the victory. Riverside now sits at 9-5 in Section 1-3A along with Beaver Falls, both one game ahead of Ellwood City. Club Hope Gets New Home in Shelby Bar Building

Club Hope has a new home. The foundation recently purchased the Shelby Bar building at 26 Fountain Avenue. “We are blessed more than we ever thought possible for the support our warriors and our foundation continue to receive,” said Founder Kara Atkinson. “This building will open up so many opportunities for what we can do to bring HOPE to our warriors and families!” Atkinson said the move will be beneficial for the Foundation. “We were thinking about it looking for a permanent location but were never actively looking.
