Bernstine Announces Weekly Veterans Assistance Outreach in Ellwood City Office

ELLWOOD CITY – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) will begin hosting veterans assistance hours every week at his district office in Ellwood City. Jesse Putnam, service officer with the Lawrence County Department of Veterans Affairs, will be available every Thursday at the office, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. Riverside Graduate Receives Scholarship

Gretchen Shaffer, a 2015 graduate of Riverside High School, recently received a $1000.00 scholarship from Northwestern Pennsylvania Society of Plastics Engineers. Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Wednesday, January 11, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. Notice of Tax Office Hours

As of Jan. 16, 2017, the tax office located in the municipal building will only be open one day a week. They request you call ahead to see when they are there, 724-758-9673. Regular hours of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9a.m.-3p.m. will resume March 1, 2017.


1954 Lincoln Class Committee December Meeting

Pudue LaCava hosted the 1954 Lincoln Class Committee for their annual Christmas Dinner on Thursday, Dec. 1 at her Mt. Vernon Drive home. The festivities began at 2p.m. with an Italian ravioli dinner, prepared and served by Ilene Gardner and LaCava, with continuous serving through the afternoon hours as the local and out of town members arrived. GriefShare Program

No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. A GriefShare seminar/support group is being hosted and sponsored by Calvin Church, and the program will be facilitated by Ginny Brest. The first session is scheduled for Sunday, January 15 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the church parlor. The group will meet each Sunday afternoon for 13 weeks, and concluding on April 9. While participants are encouraged to complete the 13-week program if possible, attendance is not mandatory each week.
