PHOTOS: Lady Panthers Clinch Playoff Berth With Victory

The Riverside Lady Panthers knocked off rival Ellwood City 55-31 to wrap up a season sweep of the Wolverines and also clinch a playoff birth in the WPIAL Class 3A Playoffs Thursday night. The Panthers (14-3 overall, 7-2 section) rebounded from a sluggish first quarter and used two 18-point quarters in the second half to pull away from the host Wolverines. Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Wednesday, February 8, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. Submit Your Content for a Community Coloring Book

The Ellwood City Arts Club has been dedicated to enhancing and recognizing the artists in Ellwood City and now they plan on producing a community coloring book. The coloring book will consist of pen and ink drawings submitted by local talent. Because cost to print the coloring book is high, the ECAC will be hosting an April Fool Fashion Show and Tea. The club will then pay balance to print the book. The cost of buying a coloring book has not been priced yet. Lincoln High Wins First Bocce Match of the Season

The first season of bocce matches for Ellwood City’s Lincoln High School is already proving to be a success. Ellwood reigns champion against New Wilmington after their first and only home game, which included the support of the high school’s band and cheerleaders, on Tuesday night. CCBC Appoints Coaches for New Women’s Basketball and Women’s and Men’s Cross Country Teams

Monaca, PA – With the goals of enriching the student life program and recruiting more local student-athletes, Community College of Beaver County has added three new sports that will commence in the 2017-18 academic year: women’s basketball, and women’s and men’s cross country. Two new coaches will join the athletics team and continue the tradition of developing successful student-athletes on and off the court. Woman Who Used Fake Identity Facing Felony Charges About a month ago a police report was released regarding a Warren, Ohio woman coming to the Ellwood City Hospital in an attempt to receive narcotic pain treatment by providing false identification. Delinquent Utility Bill Information for Landlords and Tenants

Due to some ongoing misconceptions between the electric utility, landlords, and tenants, the Borough has released two informational letters discussing the manner in which delinquent utility bills can best be addressed. If a landlord or tenant has not already received the information, they can do so by checking the Borough website or a hard copy may be obtained directly through the Ellwood City Municipal Building.
