A complete defensive gem was seen at Sewickley Academy as Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic’s suffocating zone defense caused fits for Riverside all night long. Medical Company Buys Old L&N Building

With the ongoing concern of the hospital potentially closing, many Ellwood residents are thankful to hear that medical companies are still investing in the local community. Council awarded the sale of the old Ellwood City owned L&N building located in Ellport to Worksite Medical, proceeding their bid of $375,000 for the property. The building was named after its original occupant, a North-Wales based company, Leeds & Northup, which relocated in 1997, leaving the property to industrial authorities until 2010 when the Borough took ownership of the property. Lady Panthers Advance, Riverside Boys To Play Tonight

Riverside junior point guard Sydney Wolf scored a game high 18 points for the Lady Panthers as they secured a first round victory its WPIAL Playoff action Wednesday night in Peters Township. Fashion Show and Tea

The Ellwood City Art Club will be hosting an “April Fool Fashion Show and Tea” event, Saturday April 1, 2017 from 1p.m.-3:30p.m. The event will take place at Day Springs Gifts, 316 6th Street, Ellwood City, and will include tea, cookies, music, and entertainment. Proceeds go to producing a coloring book featuring new and seasoned artists from the local community. Adult tickets are $7, 18 and under are $5.


Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 February Meeting

Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their monthly meeting on February 8, at 5p.m. at Pizza Joe’s with a Valentine Party festivity. The lodge hosted the pizza luncheon that was served by officers, Lois DiFrischia, Pudue LaCava, and members, Jackie Perno, Mary Jane Folino and Christine Butchelli. The attached information is being provided in order to inform Ellwood City Electric customers of the effect the reduction in the Transmission and Capacity charges set by PJM has had upon the Rate Adjustments (PPA Factor) and customer billings during the months of December 2016 through the upcoming billing in March 2017. Comparisons of PPA components (energy purchases, American Municipal Power-power charges, as well as Transmission and Capacity Charges) were used.
