Monaca, PA – Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) today announced the appointment of Mark Elder and Harry F. Kunselman, Esq. to the CCBC Foundation Board of Directors. Lady Wolverines Advance To WPIAL Championship

The Wolverines remain undefeated on the season and now have run their winning streak to 38 against WPIAL teams. Ellwood City will make a second straight trip to the title game and also has qualified for the state playoffs after its 3-1 victory over #4 Southmoreland (11-7 overall) Tuesday afternoon. Ellwood City took a 1-0 lead in the first when Ariana Garroway scored on a Olivia Porter error. 6th Graders Participate in Array of Fun Activities at the Park-A-Palooza

The Chamber of Commerce held their annual Ewing Park-A-Palooza May 15 for all 6th graders from Hartman and Riverside. There were ten stations for the students to visit, designed to enhance the learning experience for the students in an alternative setting presented by volunteers. The students participate in several physical activities provided by the staff of Air Fitness that encourages team building and fitness. Mohawk Senior Dies From Injuries After Bicycle Accident

A senior set to graduate from Mohawk High School next week died yesterday from sustained injuries following an accident, reports state. Jordan Bobin was life flown to UPMC Presbyterian after colliding with an SUV Monday afternoon while traveling on Route 18 in Big Beaver on his bicycle. Investigators believe Bobin was trying to cross the road when he was hit. No more information has been released yet. The crash is still under investigation. Updates to follow.  


New Castle Playhouse Auditions for The Cemetery Club

Ellwood City Wolverines upset the number two seed, the Steel Valley Ironmen 7-2 in WPIAL quarterfinal baseball 3A action Monday afternoon at Burkett Complex in Robinson Township. The Wolverines would score 4 runs in the first inning as Steel Valley Starter Tanner Cannon struggled. He walked two and hit a batter and gave up 4 straight singles. Ellwood City Wolves Club Presents Scholarships to Lincoln and Riverside High School Seniors

NORTH SEWICKLEY TWP. –The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II, through their scholarship program, continues to honor the achievements of outstanding Lincoln and Riverside High School seniors by encouraging them to pursue their dreams through higher education. At their annual scholarship dinner on May 21 at the Connoquenessing Country Club, the Wolves Club announced that nine Lincoln and Riverside seniors would receive a total of $9,500 to help fund their college education. Ellwood City Man Pleads Guilty in Stepfathers Death

Following an incident that occurred the night of Dec. 7, 2014, suspect Zachary Christopher Jones, 24, of Ellwood City, pleaded guilty Friday to charges of voluntary manslaughter and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Jones and his mother Lisa Marie Jones-Orock assaulted Gerald Lee Orock Jr., 57, of Fombell near the loading dock of Loccisano’s supermarket, leading to the mans death. Both mother and son are charged with homicide after being accused of beating Orock with a chunk of wood measuring 32 inches long, 3 1/2 inches wide and 3/4-inch thick from a piece of furniture. United Fund Announces 20% Cut in Allotments to Service Agencies

The Ellwood City United Fund closed the 2017 campaign on January 31, and was $ 9358.00 short of its goal of $ 50,000.00. It was hoped that donations through the spring months would fill the gap created by the shortage of the campaign. This did not happen and it is now approaching the time for the first disbursement of funds to our service agencies. The first disbursement is planned for July 10, 2017. The agencies disbursement will be cut approximately 20% of the approved allotted funds. The United Fund agencies can expect to receive between $500.00 to $1000.00 less. Connie MacDonald,…
