Skyla Greco didn’t allow a single hit as Wolverines defeated Steel Valley 5-0 on Tuesday. To get the final out Greco struck out Veronica Sikora pushing her game total to 14 strikeouts against three walks in the contest. Wolverines took an early lead in the second inning. Jeannette Throws Shutout as Riverside Panthers Varsity Defeats Lincoln

Adam Jeannette didn’t allow a single run as Riverside Panthers Varsity defeated Lincoln 10-0 on Wednesday. Jeannette allowed just two hits and struck out Roth to end the game. An early lead helped propel Riverside Panthers Varsity to victory. Family literacy programs can provide opportunities for education success for parents and children.  These programs can serve as models of family involvement, showing how families can become part of an extended classroom and build on the work of the school.  Engagement in family programs does not have to stop because a parent is incarcerated. Yard waste pick up for Ellwood City is scheduled for the week of May 15. The following information is gathered from Ellwood City Borough’s official website: YARD WASTE PICK UP: Green borough yard waste bins are also available for residents to dispose of their simple yard waste. Yard waste bins are available for purchase for $53.00 and can be purchased at the borough utility office or by calling 724-758-5576. Class of ’54 April Meeting

Pudue LaCava hosted the Lincoln Class of 1954 “Nite at the Movies” committee meeting at her Mt. Vernon Drive home on Wednesday April 19. The session began with a luncheon provided by the committee, featuring pizza by “Pinky” Maielli and dessert by Ilene Gardner and served by LaCava and Gardner. Co-Chairman, James Gillespie conducted the business session that followed. Clemmy Sirimarco presented the financial reports. Gillespie reported on the fund raising and distributed the April tickets. Former Treasurer Prohibited from Attending Ellwood City Arts and Crafts Festival

Suzanne Darlen Bleakney, 50, of Ellwood City, the previous Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food, and Entertainment Festival treasurer accused of theft, has now pleaded guilty Friday to one count of theft. Bleakney was facing charges of theft by unlawful taking and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received after supposedly stealing upwards of $1650.00 from the festival bank account during her time working as the treasurer. Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge J. Craig Cox sentenced her to 18 months of probation and 20 hours of community service. She is also ordered to repay the $1,650 of misappropriated…
