Ellwood City Farmers’ Market Set to Open for the Season

The Ellwood City Farmers Market located at the The Beaver Avenue Parking Lot (500 Block) will be opening again for the season starting this Saturday, June 3. A wide variety of things will be sold at the market mostly including homemade and organic items and food. The market will run every Saturday during the summer through October 7th from 8:00a.m. until noon. Live music from 9:00 – 11:00a.m. Free parking downtown.


Mayor Warns of IRS Phone Scam

Mayor Court has received several phone calls from residents about the “IRS” asking for money for back taxes. Once again several residents (especially elderly residents) are being targeted by phone calls stating that they owe the IRS money for back taxes or fees due to them. The caller tells the resident they must return their call or the IRS (SCAMMER) will begin the procedure to prosecute them for money owed. Wednesday, May 31, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. Timothy A. Houk, a senior from Ellwood City, received a $500.00 scholarship courtesy of the Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 committee. Class of ’54 May Meeting

Pudue LaCava hosted the Lincoln High School class of 1954 “Nite at the Movies” full committee at her Mt. Vernon Drive home at 2p.m. on Thursday, May 11. Lunch provided by committee members was served by Ilene Gardner and LaCava. James Spielvogel was honored for his May birthday with a cake provided by Gardner. Co-Chairman, Paul Abraham, began the business session by commending all the work done by all the committee members. Panthers Overcome Early Deficit, Advance To A Consecutive WPIAL Championship Game

For the first time since 2015, the Riverside Panthers allowed a run in the WPIAL playoffs and had to claw its way back to clinch a spot in the 3A Championship game against a Brownsville Falcons squad that gave them all they can handle in a 5-4 victory.
