On Thursday, 6-29-17 Mayor Court presented the 4th 2017 Beautification Award yard sign and Gift Certificate to Ginny Brest of Fountain Avenue. Almost every year since the program began, someone from her neighborhood has nominated Ginny for this award. Her landscape is always pristine perfect and it’s always an honor to present the award to people who truly care about how their hard work has paid off.


Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of July 3, 2017

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, July 3, at 10:00 a.m. —  “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Gov. Wolf, Boston Terrier Sign Bill for Stricter Animal Cruelty Laws

HARRISBURG – Yesterday Gov. Tom Wolf and a Boston Terrier named Libre, signed the Libre’s Law Bill – strengthening Pennsylvania’s laws and punishments against animal abuse and neglect. Next to Wolf’s signature lies a tiny paw print belonging to a once neglected Boston Terrier, Libre, named by his rescuer meaning “freedom” in Spanish. In July 2016, Libre was found as a three-month-old puppy clinging to life in the summer heat, dehydrated, emaciated and suffering from severe mange with maggots eating his rotting flesh, he was disposed of and neglected by an Amish puppy mill farmer in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. CCBC Student Athlete Retention Program Helps Athletes Make the Grade

Monaca, PA – Community College of Beaver County’s (CCBC) Student Athlete Retention Program, which offers counseling services, workshops, mentors, tutors, student educational plans, and progress report monitoring, is ensuring that that the College’s student-athletes are recognized for their academic achievements in addition to successes on the field or court. Register for the Children’s Art Camp

Day Springs is now accepting registration for their children’s art camp. The program will be working with ages 7-9 and held on Monday, July 24 to Thursday July 27 from 10a.m. to 11:45a.m. Each day the children will see a short video of artist who highly impacted art as we know it, followed by projects done with graphite, pastel, crayon and colored pencil. House Passes Bernstine Bill to Protect Mental Health Patients from Abuse

HARRISBURG – The House of Representatives today unanimously approved legislation, authored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence), which would ensure Pennsylvanians receiving mental health care have legal protection from those seeking to do them harm. “Mental health issues can impact anyone, at any time, and without this safeguard on our books, we would be failing to protect a lot of our citizens from potential abuse and neglect. The Ellwood City Providence Baptist Church will be hosting their 9th annual community carnival to benefit the Moffatt family after their 10 year old daughter Brooke was diagnosed in July 2016 with ALL – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
