Ellwood City’s last leaf pick up for 2017 will occur the week of November 12. YARD WASTE PICK UP GUIDELINES: Green borough yard waste bins are also available for residents to dispose of their simple yard waste. Yard waste bins are available for purchase for $53.00 and can be purchased at the borough utility office or by calling 724-758-5576. Yard waste bins are collected on specified weeks throughout the calendar years. Dates are also provided on borough utility bills. If a resident has extra yard waste that does not fit into a container, it is recommended that they bundle and tie branches together. The…


“Toys for Tots” Collection Spot at Senator Vogel’s Office

State Senator Elder Vogel, Jr.’s office will be collecting toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve “Toys for Tots” program through December 15th. If you would like to participate, please drop off any new, unwrapped toys at the Senator’s office at 488 Adams Street in Rochester. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Carnegie Free Library Fall Fundraiser

The Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls is hosting A Novel Event, featuring local authors’ books for sale and signing. The date of the event is Saturday, Nov. 18 – the same day as the Beaver Falls Business Open House. “What makes this doubly exciting is that the Beaver Falls Businesses are having an Open House on the same day,” Jean Barsotti, MSLS, Director stated. The five-hour event includes a variety of raffle baskets, and cookies and beverages for sale to supplement the author book signing. More event information is on the flyer below.


United Fund Annual Campaign

The United Fund will start its annual campaign drive on October 1st for the year 2018. Over the past few years, we find ourselves behind in meeting weekly goals to reach the $50,000.00 that is needed to support the United Fund agencies. We usually receive donations and pledges that equal approximately 80% of what is needed. We would encourage everyone in the Ellwood City area to reflect on what they may share with others who are less fortunate than ourselves, so we can make a difference in their lives. Earn Up To Six Credits in BC3’s First 5-Week Winter Session

Butler, Pa- Butler County Community College’s first 100-percent online five-week winter session will allow its own and guest students to earn up to six credits through Jan. 22 and remain on track for graduation, or make a spring semester schedule more manageable, according to BC3’s dean of admissions. The college’s winter session, to be held from Dec. 18 to Jan. 22, will feature courses in elementary statistics, general psychology, health science, human growth and development, intermediate algebra, introduction to art, microcomputers, principles of management and principles of sociology. The grade 1-6 boys and girls REC Wrestling registrations dates are coming up fast. Registration will be on Mondaym November 6th, Wednesday, November 8th, and Monday, November 13th.  The registration will take place in Lincoln High School. Final Meet the Candidate Night

Updated – 11/2/2017 9a.m. Tomorrow evening, November 2, is the final Meet the Candidate night for this election hosted by the Ellwood City Kitchen Cabinet, voting for positions on both School Board and Borough Council is scheduled for November 7. There are four seats up for election for both of the committees. School Board member Matthew Morella and Councilman Brad Ovial are not seeking reelection. Mayor Court enjoyed an evening handing out candy to Ellwood City children who participated in the annual Halloween Night tradition.  Many children were out, regardless of the cold, to show off their great costumes and be treated with candy from residents all over town. Wampum Area Christmas Parade Treat Sign-ups

The Wampum Area Christmas Parade is on  Dec. 2nd 2017 at 1 pm.  As in previous years, children aged 12 and under can meet Santa after the Parade in the gymnasium and Santa will give them a treat bag.  However, children must be registered in advance for the treat bag.  Treat bags are free to Wampum area children.
