Scholarship Available to Students Pursuing Education in Construction or Trades

Monaca, PA – The CCBC Foundation recently announced the establishment of the William R. Minton Scholarship Fund. A generous gift from William Minton’s surviving wife, Abigail Minton and her family, the scholarship celebrates the legacy of Mr. Minton. The $20,000 endowed scholarship is available to students pursuing an education in construction or the trades in programs such as CCBC’s Building Trade Technology Associate in Applied Science degree, which is designed to meet the workforce training needs of business and industry by recognizing college-level, on-the-job learning. Sponsored Trees in Ewing Park

Our journalist took a stroll in Ewing Park yesterday and noticed several of the sponsored Christmas trees have been decorated in preparation of this weekend. About the Christmas events: “Let There Be Lights Weekend” begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 1. The festival will include vendors, entertainment, horse and trolley rides, reindeer, fireworks and the lighting of the Christmas tree. The Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s House Tour features something a little different this year – a church! Trinity Lutheran Church will be part of the tour, and it is truly a magical sight to say the least. From the aw-inspiring stained glass windows to the realistic decorative organ pipes, the Christmas decor adds an appropriate accenting holiday atmosphere. Criminal Complaints: Ellwood City Man Facing Felony Theft Charges

Ellwood City Man Facing Felony Theft Charges James Allen Sawyers, 26, of Ellwood City, is facing one felony count of theft by unlawful taking and one felony count of receiving stolen property after stealing a jewelry box full of miscellaneous jewelry from a local household. According to the complaint, the resident of the household was unwell for several months and had to have caregivers in and out of the residence often. The homeowner had noticed the jewelry box missing after one of the caregivers had brought their son, who would sometimes cut the grass of the property until his services…


New Year’s Eve Bingo

Holy Redeemer is hosting their New Year’s Eve Bingo on December 31, 2017 at the Catholic Center located at 311 Lawrence Avenue. Wampum Area Christmas Parade Celebrates Dr. Seuss Publications

Wampum, PA – Each year, the Wampum Area Christmas Parade Committee prepares floats that do not compete in the popular float contest. They like to add to parade line-up each to assure new and fresh content to complement the familiar traditions. Join the Ellwood City Relay for Life organization for their fourth meeting of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ellwood on Thursday, December 7th at 6p.m. They will be meeting at The Beanery, 212 Portersville Road in Ellport, (the old La Isla Mexican Restaurant).
