PHOTOS: EC Wolves & Holy Redeemer Golf Bash

Over 400 people attended the Ellwood City Wolves and Holy Redeemer annual golf bash on Saturday at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Center. The Golf Bash, which featured prize drawings every 15 minutes, benefits educational endeavors.  In addition to the golf prizes, there was 50/50 drawing, table raffles, and a Chinese auction. Ellwood Bocce Team To Host Season Finale Tuesday

Tuesday afternoon at 2:45, the Lincoln High School Unified Bocce team will host the New Wilmington Greyhounds in their final regular play match of the season. The match will be held in the big gym and is free and open to the public. The Ellwood City Wolverines are 2-0 on the season. EC Wrestling Closes Regular Season With Victory

Ellwood City finished their last match of the year last Friday with a 30-24 win against Fort Cherry.  Next Friday, February 16th the Wolverines will be traveling to Canon MacMillan to compete for the section and individual WPIAL Championships. Lawrence County ‘EdCamp’ Scheduled

February 2018– Lawrence County EdCamp, an educational conference like no other, will be held at two different locations in Lawrence County on Friday, February 16, 2018. The structure of the conference is very informal and educator-driven. All Lawrence County school districts have a professional development day scheduled into their calendars on February 16th. It was decided amongst the superintendents to try an EdCamp instead of canned presentations that may not fit all educators’ needs. Monthly Mayor’s Advisory Meeting Recap

Mayor Court held his monthly Mayor’s Advisory Meeting recently discussing that dispite the 419 drug arrests since he has taken office, the fight against drugs in the area is gaining strength.  Mayor Court is working hard hand in hand with the Lawrence County DA to institute new strategies in this fight. Mayor Court will be speaking at the Rotary meeting on March 15th.  He will also appear at the Fireman’s Banquet on February 24, 2018. Aided by six match victories, the Ellwood City Wolverines wrestling team defeated New Castle 42-17 Tuesday evening during senior night. Match victories by Jake Alberts, Tyler Baird, Donavan Chambers, Doug Balin, Braden Strohecker, and Austin Walley proved decisive in the Wolverines victory. Panthers Victorious, Wolverines Fall in Section Finales

The Riverside boys basketball team used a strong first quarter to run away from Mohawk and claim victory in their Section 1-3A finale Tuesday while the Ellwood City Wolverines saw an slim, early lead quickly evaporate in their section finale defeat at the hands of Lincoln Park. Both teams had already clinched playoff berths and will look forward to the release of the WPIAL playoff brackets.  Riverside finished section play at 4-6 while Ellwood City finished 5-5 in Section 1-3A.  The two head-to-head victories by the Wolverines over Riverside in the regular season may prove pivotal in playoff seedings.
