Corona D’Italia Lodge #801 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 14, at 5:00pm at Pizza Joe’s. Honoring St. Patrick’s Day, the session began with an Irish Stew dinner prepared by the staff and served by lodge officers, Purdue LaCava, Mary Jane Folino, Patty Regna and members, Margaret Cancelli, and Anita Chaffin. Regna offered the invocation honoring St. Patrick and prayers for all the living and deceased lodge members and all military personnel. Six members of the Pittsburgh Steelers basketball squad took the court Wednesday night at 8pm against the Lincoln Caring Team.  Steeler players included notable former players Charlie Batch and Louis Lipps along with 2017 3rd round pick Cam Sutton who put on a show for the capacity crowd. Franklin Township Annual Clean-Up Day Announced

The Franklin Township 2018 Clean-Up Day will be held from 8:00am to 2:00pm on May 5, 2018. Township residents may drop off their trash at the township’s municipal building. Passes are for township residents only and must be purchased in advance at $10.00 per pass. Two passes are allowed per household. Passes are good for one load. Wolverine Baseball/Softball Teams Both Fall Behind Early, Defeated On Monday

The Ellwood City baseball squad watched their Monday afternoon game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-2 loss to Shenango. The Wolverines struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Shenango, giving up 13 runs. This past weekend marked the 23rd Annual Community Easter Egg hunt which took place in Ewing Park for ALL area children ages 10 and under. This year the committee added one extra hunt to the event, a special hunt for Special needs and handicapped children.  In total, over 8,000 eggs were distributed through the various hunts along with 25 golden eggs that were redeemed for special prizes.
