Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 Monthly Meeting Recap

Corona D’Italia Lodge #801 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 14, at 5:00pm at Pizza Joe’s. Honoring St. Patrick’s Day, the session began with an Irish Stew dinner prepared by the staff and served by lodge officers, Purdue LaCava, Mary Jane Folino, Patty Regna and members, Margaret Cancelli, and Anita Chaffin. Regna offered the invocation honoring St. Patrick and prayers for all the living and deceased lodge members and all military personnel. Six members of the Pittsburgh Steelers basketball squad took the court Wednesday night at 8pm against the Lincoln Caring Team.  Steeler players included notable former players Charlie Batch and Louis Lipps along with 2017 3rd round pick Cam Sutton who put on a show for the capacity crowd. The Caring Team Stars roster includes faculty members Nick Franitti, Dena Noble, Craig Mills, Matt Gerello, Jolene Krupa, Gary Rozanski, Ashley Coulter, Ryan Wilfong, and Bruce Prisuta along with boys varsity players Anthony Roth, Andrew O’Brien, Nico Lucarelli and Broc Boariu. Bernstine Announces Spring Town Hall Meeting Series

The Ellwood City United Fund is auctioning off a week trip to Disney World at Disney Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa from May 13th  through May 20th. It is that time of year to have those fantastic baskets for raffle! Join and support the Circle of Friends and their Spring Basket Raffle that starts today and runs through Friday. Franklin Township Annual Clean-Up Day Announced

The Franklin Township 2018 Clean-Up Day will be held from 8:00am to 2:00pm on May 5, 2018. Township residents may drop off their trash at the township’s municipal building. Passes are for township residents only and must be purchased in advance at $10.00 per pass. Two passes are allowed per household. Passes are good for one load. Passes go on sale April 3rd at the township municipal building, located at 475 Demott Lane. The building is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 3:30pm. Wolverine Baseball/Softball Teams Both Fall Behind Early, Defeated On Monday

The Ellwood City baseball squad watched their Monday afternoon game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-2 loss to Shenango. The Wolverines struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Shenango, giving up 13 runs. Shenango fired up the offense in the first inning, when Jake Merkel’s sac fly scored an early run for Shenango. Shenango scored eight runs in the seventh inning to stretch their lead. Before the Pittsburgh Steelers take the court at Lincoln High School on Wednesday night, a co-ed basketball game with players from past boys and girls teams at Lincoln High School will tip off in an alumni contest at 7:00pm. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Annual Easter Egg Hunt

This past weekend marked the 23rd Annual Community Easter Egg hunt which took place in Ewing Park for ALL area children ages 10 and under. This year the committee added one extra hunt to the event, a special hunt for Special needs and handicapped children.  In total, over 8,000 eggs were distributed through the various hunts along with 25 golden eggs that were redeemed for special prizes.
