Joint Sewer Authority Receives $37 Million In State Financing

The Rochester Area Joint Sewer Authority (JSA) was today (January 30) awarded $37 million in financing from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) for major upgrades to its system, according to Senator Elder Vogel (R-47). PENNVEST awarded a $33,976,271 low-interest loan and a $1,592,241 grant to the JSA for the modification of its existing sewage treatment plant, Center Street Pump Station, West Madison Pump Station, Freedom Pump Station and the addition of a new detention tank to eliminate wet weather overflows. PENNVEST also awarded a $1,431,488 low-interest loan to the JSA for the architectural and engineering costs of the project….

Two Schools, One City, One Fundraising Cause

In light of our community’s tragic loss, the two rival schools have decided to come together and show support for the grieving family and friends of the late Kaitlyn “Kait” Francis. Showing their support, four students have stepped up and took on the task of making t-shirts to sell to students in a fundraising effort for the Francis family. Brewing Up New Ways To Preach

A Californian pastor is bringing a new way to teach the word of God to Ellwood City. On Saturday, January 12, Chris Swales opened the doors of the new coffee shop The Badlands on Fifth Street near the underpass. Swales is a California native who had been a pastor for The Badlands Ministry in California. Wampum Graduate Named To The Dean’s List

Aleigh Mcclintick earned a 3.5 GPA, which led to her to be named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2018 Semester at the Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Mcclintick, of Wampum, graduated from Lincoln High School in 2018 and went on to Clarion to major in Nursing BSN. In high school, she participated in many clubs, some of which were Powder Puff from 2014-2016, Y- Teens from 2014- 2015, Student Council from 2014-2018, and the National Honors Society from 2017-2018. Senator Elder Vogel will serve on five Senate Committees in addition to his chairmanship of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee for the 2019-20 Legislative Session. Allen Chiropractic Cracks Open A New Location

Another new business is ‘cracking’ in downtown Ellwood City. Early in December local chiropractic practice, Allen Chiropractic made its way from Ellport to the main street of Ellwood. The practice is owned by John Allen. Previously, Allen Chiropractic had been located across the street from Culligan Water and was there for seven years. Applicants Sought For Ellwood City Wolves Club Scholarship

The Ellwood City Wolves Club will once again offer scholarships to graduating high school seniors residing in the Ellwood City Area School District and Riverside Beaver County School District who plan to attend a four-year college, community college, trade or technical school following graduation. Applications for the Wolves Club Scholarship are available from the Guidance Offices at Lincoln High School and Riverside High School. PHOTOS: 3rd Annual Winter Wine & Brew Fest

The Ellwood City Revitalization held its 3rd Annual Winter Wine and Brew Fest on Saturday afternoon at the Ellwood City Sons of Italy Club.  The event featured beer and wine tasting, entertainment, DJ, raffles, catered food, and a Chinese Auction. Over 25 baskets donated by local businesses along with two gun raffles, sponsored by Duke’s Sport Shop, and two 50/50 raffles! Participation benefits the Ellwood City Revitalization projects.
